Since time immemorial, the Modoc people lived abundantly across lands now known as Southern Oregon and Northern California. In 2021, Modoc Nation launched the Homelands Program to reacquire and restore ancestral lands. They founded the Modoc Ranch and purchased approximately 4,000 acres in Siskiyou and Modoc counties. Through their efforts, the landscape has already experienced significant improvements. Last month, Blue Forest had the opportunity to visit our friends at the Modoc Ranch and learn more about their vision for ecosystem restoration and ways to support their work moving forward. Learn more about how the Modoc Nation Homelands Program is healing homelands and community in the following film and blog by Blue Forest's Indigenous Partnerships Manager Saraya Hamidi and Project Development Manager, Kelsee Taylor. https://lnkd.in/g2E7Xb5K #landback #indigenous

🎉 Live from the field: Announcing the Upper Wenatchee I Forest Resilience Bond (FRB)!🌲🌲 Today we celebrate the launch of Washington state’s first FRB, marking an impactful step in wildfire risk mitigation. We are thrilled to come together with our partners at Chelan County, Chelan County PUD, Washington State Department of Natural Resources, and USDA Forest Service to provide an innovative finance model that increases the pace and scale of fuels reduction and forest restoration activities. Chelan County ranks highest in wildfire risk to homes in Washington state and contains four of the state's top ten communities most vulnerable to wildfire exposure. It faces a critical need for proactive measures to protect people, infrastructure, and landscapes. This FRB illustrates the dedication of local, state, and federal government agencies, non-profits, and private organizations to collaboratively address the wildfire crisis in an “all hands, all lands” approach. Together, we create more resilient ecosystems and communities. Learn more about Blue Forest’s latest FRB here: https://ow.ly/vK9950TgKYB #wildfiremitigation #conservationfinance #Washingtonfires
