In coastal Ghana, the Regenerative Development of Anlo Wetlands (ReDAW) project, in concert with Terraformation, brings together local communities to restore mangrove forests lost to deforestation. For the people of Fiaxor, this means new livelihood opportunities, storm protection, food security — and renewed hope for the future. Mangroves are a powerhouse for coastal and global ecosystems: providing habitat for fish, purifying water, and protecting farmland from salinization. For our global climate, mangroves provide critical carbon removal, storing up to 4x more carbon than terrestrial trees.
