About us
The Bonneville Power Administration is a federal nonprofit wholesale power marketer that sells carbon-free electricity from 31 federal dams and one nuclear plant to millions of consumers and businesses in eight states, while operating three-quarters of the region’s high-voltage transmission grid. BPA also funds one of the largest fish and wildlife programs in the world, and, with its partners, pursues cost-effective energy savings and operational solutions that help maintain affordable, reliable and clean energy for the Northwest. At Bonneville Power, you’ll give back to the Northwest community that you call home while pursuing a rewarding career. We offer work/life balance whether you seek the first-rate outdoor opportunities or the many advantages of urban living, our locations throughout Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Montana let you choose your idyllic spot to build your life and career. We value the knowledge and experience of the many veterans we employ. As a federal agency, we actively encourage veterans who seek an exciting and challenging work environment to consider a career with us. BPA also offers unique opportunities for students and recent graduates to begin exploring careers in energy through our Pathways Internship and Recent Graduate programs. The more than 1.7 million salmon and steelhead that have returned to the Columbia River this season and the uptick in returns in the 1990s reflect a correlation between federal fish and wildlife mitigation efforts that started more than 40 years ago. BPA is proud of the work we fund with tribes, states and other non-governmental organizations across the PNW that benefit multiple species. The recent extension of the fall Chinook salmon fishing season announced by ODF&W is additional evidence these efforts are making a positive difference. https://lnkd.in/ep9e9C8u

After their first spawn, steelhead are known as kelt and must make the long journey back to the ocean to feed and recover. To help increase the chances of kelt from the Clearwater River recovering and spawning again, BPA is funding the construction of a state-of-the-art steelhead kelt reconditioning facility in Julietta, Idaho. The new facility will be built adjacent to Nez Perce Tribal Hatchery, which BPA funded and constructed in 2001, and is being constructed in partnership with Columbia River Inter-Tribal Fish Commission and the Nez Perce tribe. https://lnkd.in/gFv7fHuh
