Our Passport to Manhood program is underway. This program represents a targeted effort to engage young boys in discussions and activities that reinforce character, leadership and positive behavior. Each participant receives a “passport” to underscore the notion that he is on a personal journey of maturation and growth. Each of the program’s 14 sessions use interactive activities to focus on a specific aspect of character and manhood. It also includes a service project where boys learn the importance of giving back to the community. Boys & Girls Clubs of America #GreatFuturesStartHere

We celebrated National Lights On Afterschool Day on October 24th! Governor Phil Murphy officially recognized this day to celebrate afterschool programs across New Jersey, including ours right here at the Boys & Girls Club of Atlantic City. During Power Hour, our members joined in the celebration with special activities: K-2nd graders colored lightbulbs; 3rd-4th graders shared why they love their afterschool staff through drawings and writing; 5th-7th graders took on a word search challenge, discovering key terms related to afterschool programs. Check out the photos of their amazing work! Boys & Girls Clubs of America #LightsOnAfterschool #LightBulbChallenge #BGCAc

Our SMART Girls program brings members together for education and connection. This program is a small-group health, fitness, prevention/education and self-esteem enhancement program designed to meet the developmental needs of girls in three age groups, spanning ages 8 to 18. Through dynamic sessions, participatory activities, field trips and mentoring opportunities with adult women, Club girls explore their own and societal attitudes and values as they build skills for eating right, staying physically fit, getting good health care and developing positive relationships with peers and adults. It is with deep sadness that we share the heartbreaking news of the passing of Richard Harris, a beloved member of our Boys & Girls Club of Atlantic City family. Richard, 29, was not only a former Club Kid but also a dedicated staff member who touched the lives of many. His unexpected passing leaves a void in our hearts. Richard was an exceptional individual who embodied the values of the Boys & Girls Club of Atlantic City. As a Club kid, he embraced every opportunity, making the most of his time with us. Richard was an outstanding track and field athlete and a proud graduate of Atlantic City High School (Class of 2013). His commitment to service led him to enlist in the U.S. Army. Richard went on to pursue his education at Rowan University, but even as a college student, he remained deeply connected to his roots. Every summer, he returned to Atlantic City to serve as a youth counselor at the Club, where his compassion, energy, and genuine care for others touched countless lives. His impact on the youth, his peers, and the community will never be forgotten. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends during this difficult time. Rest in peace, Rich. You will always be part of our Club family. 💙
