Bradley Angle’s mission is to serve all people affected by domestic violence.
About us
Bradley Angle was founded in 1975 by women who had enough violence for a lifetime and were ready to change their lives. Named in honor of Sharon Bradley and Pam Angle — who died from the violence of living on the streets in Portland, Oregon — Bradley Angle was the first domestic violence shelter on the West Coast. Today, we provide a continuum of domestic violence and sexual assault support services for survivors and their children in Multnomah County, OR. We serve individuals and families of all backgrounds, cultures, ages, and sexual orientations. Through all Bradley Angle programs, we continue to plant the seeds of social change.

In 1975, Bradley Angle was founded by a group of passionate women, committed to creating a safe space for survivors of domestic violence. These trailblazing women were among the first in the country to offer a shelter for survivors, laying the groundwork for what has become a vital resource in Portland and beyond. Their legacy lives on through Bradley Angle's mission to provide trauma-informed, inclusive support to all survivors, especially those from BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ communities. As we continue their work, it’s crucial to recognize the ongoing reality of domestic violence: 1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men experience physical violence from an intimate partner in their lifetime. Nearly 50% of LGBTQIA+ individuals face abuse from an intimate partner. In Oregon, 48% of domestic violence survivors remain in abusive situations due to the lack of safe, affordable housing. Bradley Angle remains committed to standing strong, just as our founders envisioned, fighting for a future free from violence. 💜 #EndDV #Founders #SupportSurvivors #BradleyAngle #DomesticViolence #LGBTQRights #DVStatistics

Financial abuse is one of the leading reasons survivors stay in abusive situations. When someone controls access to money, limits job opportunities, or piles on debt, it becomes incredibly difficult for survivors to leave and start over. At Bradley Angle, we understand how financial abuse can trap individuals in cycles of violence, and that’s why our Economic Empowerment Program helps survivors build financial independence through education, resources, and support. Everyone deserves the chance to live free from fear. 💜 #EndDV #SupportSurvivors #EconomicEmpowerment #FinancialAbuse #BreakTheCycle #BradleyAngle
