Helping people transition from homelessness to housing.

About us

Transition Projects provides individuals with the services, resources and tools they need to end their homelessness, secure housing, and maintain that housing. - Each year, we assist more than 10,000 people experiencing homelessness. - On any given day, we help meet the basic needs of more than 700 people through our Day Center. - On any given night, we provide a safe place to sleep for more than 800 people with nowhere else to turn. - In any given year, we help place more than 800 people into affordable housing - and then support them in retaining that housing. Whenever and wherever we can, we advocate for policies and initiatives that affirm the right of all people to a place they can call home. Want to join our team of passionate changemakers? • Banfield Pet Hospital has been a longtime supporter of Transition Projects, invested in working to solve homelessness. They have sponsored our Veterans Resource & Wellness fair event, regularly volunteered to sort donations in our warehouse, and they supply us with hygiene packs for people & pets — a wonderful resource for our shelter participants! Thank you for all you do in our community Banfield Pet Hospital! Interested in getting involved? Visit www.tprojects.org to find opportunities to donate and volunteer.

  • Today, we honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s vision for a better world. Dr. King believed in action and equality, and that change is possible when we support each other. That’s what we’re working toward when we envision a just community in which everyone has access to a safe, affordable home. Whether it’s volunteering to provide a meal or supporting through donations, there are many ways to be part of something greater. Visit www.tprojects.org if you’re looking to get involved in ending homelessness for our community. Photos 2-4: Volunteers from Kaiser Permanente and Starbucks joined us on this National Day of Service to help sort hygiene and clothing items to be sent to shelters.

  • Thank you Wells Fargo, who had employees join together from three states to volunteer at Transition Projects! They helped us sort through a LOT of clothing and hygiene items, organize shoes, and winter accessories, so that we get these items out to folks quickly. The Wells Fargo team was a big help tackling some less glamorous, but very important, work! Interested in getting involved? Contact us at volunteer@tprojects.org for more information.

As a board member, it makes me so proud to share these stats. Transition Projects is making an impact on homelessness in Portland. • Sending a huge thank you to Columbia Sportswear Company for being a dedicated partner with Transition Projects on Willamette Week's Give!Guide this year! Because of their support, every person who donates $50 or more to Transition Projects through Give!Guide will receive an exclusive pass to Columbia's Employee Store for up to 4 guests. But Columbia's impact goes far beyond Give!Guide. They have been a driving force behind important events like Safeway's Truckload of Coats, and their team serves hot meals twice a month at the Doreen's Place Men's Shelter. Their team is committed to making a difference in our community. Special thanks to John Ducker for your leadership as a board member, and for inspiring others to get involved.
