Burn patients are seen in The Connecticut Burn Center—the only burn center in Connecticut—from throughout the state and neighboring states. Bridgeport Hospital represented at the Global Security Exchange Conference in Florida in September. Amanda Miller, program director of Strategic Operations, and Mark Larobina, regional director of Public Safety, presented on how to protect your workforce with risk stratification, planning and active assailant training.

The Michael Ness Memorial Foundation donated $11,700 to the Connecticut Burn Center at Bridgeport Hospital. The donation comes from proceeds from the seventh annual Michael Ness Pay It Forward Golf Tournament, which was held in August this year. The Michael Ness Memorial Foundation honors Michael Ness, who passed away after injuries he sustained in a house fire in 2013. He was treated at the Burn Center. Over the years, the Foundation has donated around $100,000 to the Burn Center.

Yale New Haven Children's Hospital Pediatric Critical Care Transport Team had a great day participating in Connecticut Day at the Big E Fair. The team provided a “touch-a-truck” experience for kids to explore the inside of one of our specialty ambulances and learn about the specialized equipment used when transporting critically ill or injured children and infants.
