In honor of #DevelopmentalDisabilitiesAwarenessMonth, we wanted to share a fun fact about Brilliant Corners' history that people might not know… Brilliant Corners was not always called Brilliant Corners! It was originally called West Bay Housing, and it was formed back in 2004 by a group of Bay Area service providers who joined together to address the housing crisis facing people with developmental disabilities. The organization quickly became California’s largest housing partner in the historic shift from institutional settings to community-based housing for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We've since expanded our mission to include a variety of innovative #SupportiveHousing models, but we remain as committed as ever to ensuring that people with I/DD have safe, affordable housing that includes the supportive services they need to live as independently as possible. Check out this video highlighting one of our recently completed projects – our first-ever Accessible Dwelling Unit! This beautiful ADA accessible unit will provide #AffordableHousing for individuals with I/DD served through their lifetime.🏘️ https://lnkd.in/gpttRmwQ #DDawareness2025

Where housing and services come together
About us
Brilliant Corners provides innovative housing and housing-related services to California’s most vulnerable individuals, with an emphasis on those transitioning from, or at risk of, homelessness or institutionalization. We were founded in 2004 on the belief that all people deserve safe, affordable housing that includes the support services they need to live as independently as possible. We quickly became California’s largest housing partner in the historic shift from institutional settings to community-based housing for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). Over the past 20 years, we have embraced the challenge of scaling innovative supportive housing for those who need it most, with an emphasis on those transitioning from, or at risk of, homelessness or institutionalization. Working at the intersection of housing and sectors such as healthcare, veterans’ services, the justice system, and the homelessness response system, Brilliant Corners provides a variety of innovative supportive housing models that meet the unique needs of each individual we serve.

Did you know? One way Brilliant Corners is addressing the housing crisis in California is by repurposing underutilized existing buildings and constructing new permanent #SupportiveHousing for people transitioning out of homelessness. Our team also provides personalized wraparound support to residents, including #CaseManagement services. Last year, we converted a vacant grocery store into the Las Palmas Apartments, a beautiful 53-unit housing complex in Wilmington, CA. And later this year, we'll be celebrating the opening of two #ProjectHomekey sites in the Harbor City and Echo Park areas of Los Angeles!🏘️ We couldn't be more excited for the impact these #SupportiveHousingDevelopment projects have in our communities! Stay tuned for site opening updates.

The Brilliant Corners team had a wonderful time sharing and gaining knowledge and expertise at this year's Housing California conference!🏘️ Yesterday, our Chief Strategic Partnerships Officer Sabrina Gillan joined fellow panelists Kristen Aster from The People Concern, Zella Knight from Residents United Network Los Angeles, Carlos Van Natter from HACLA, and Sarah Saadian from National Low Income Housing Coalition to discuss project-based vouchers and how they are being used to expand access to permanent supportive housing. Earlier today, our Director of External Affairs Jose Osuna joined fellow panelists Shebani Rao and Michele Byrnes from Homebase, and Nicole Green, Chair of the AB109 Community Advisory Board to share about the impact of their work with Measure J and opportunities to reallocate funding from the justice system to housing as an equity intervention. And this afternoon, Brilliant Corners Deputy Chief Program Officer Tiana Moore, PhD joined fellow panelists David Amaral from All Home, Ryan Finnigan from the Terner Center for Housing Innovation, UC Berkeley, and Sasha Hauswald from City of Oakland to share recent efforts and opportunities to use research to pursue more effective and equitable solutions to homelessness. Thank you Housing CA and all the inspiring presenters for another incredible conference! We're already looking forward to next year.

🏆SOME TIPS FOR SUCCESSFUL INTERVIEWS🏆 When it comes to interviews, the quality of the interviewer can vary. As a candidate, you often don't have control over who interviews you. However, you can take steps to maximize your interview experience. BEFORE THE INTERVIEW: Be Prepared 🤩🖥️🤩 - Familiarize yourself with the details on your resume - Research the company and the specific role - Find out about your interviewer using platforms like LinkedIn or Google - Prepare a list of questions that highlight your understanding of the role As an interviewer, I may ask a question as simple as, “What time is it?” I often hear the whole history of the clock, 🕰️ but 5 minutes later still not know what time it is. 🤯 During the interview, remember to: - Stay composed and focused - Show enthusiasm and ensure you are in a quiet environment - Take your time to respond thoughtfully Leaders don’t rush, they take their time & articulate, while minions rush. - Avoid overloading your answers with unnecessary details - Respond directly to questions and observe the interviewer's style - If relevant information is not addressed, tactfully bring it up. Example: “I believe this role would be an excellent fit for both (the name of the company) and myself due to my experience.. “WITH WHAT” Remember to keep it direct and concise. No matter how glum your interviewer is, no one rains on your great day. 😎 Conclude the interview by inquiring about the next steps and sending a follow-up "Thank You" email. 🤩🏆🤩 #helpingothers #kindnessmatters #care #MeWe #weareallhuman #linkedin #github #hireveterans #loveoverhate #yourdreamyourfutureisnow
