At this year’s Columbus Book Festival, we introduced a new product: framed.camera! This digital photo booth service allowed festival-goers to capture and share their festival memories with custom, branded frames. We displayed the photos on screens throughout the festival, creating an event-wide photo booth experience. Learn about the process of developing our digital photo booth for the Book Festival in our new Impact Story– and keep an eye out for future events that feature this service! https://ow.ly/bS1x50TC8CT

As we curl up with a good book this fall, we’re thinking back on the great time we had over the summer at the Columbus Book Festival! This year, we were proud to host the NFC Discovery Quest at the Book Fest. This digital, interactive experience guided festival-goers to explore 15 vendors throughout the event space. This resulted in a significant increase in foot traffic to participating booths, and it even allowed guests to win prizes! Want to learn more about how this innovative approach transformed the festival? Read our full Impact Story: https://ow.ly/xtjk50TBFnw

Earlier this month, the New Albany Chamber of Commerce invited Buckeye Innovation President Brad Griffith and other local business advocates to Washington, DC. During their visit, these New Albany-based leaders spoke with several of our elected representatives from Congress as well as the US Chamber of Commerce to discuss key legislative issues impacting the business community. These issues included workforce development, education, and promoting a healthy business climate in Ohio. As a small business leader focusing on equitable access to technology and design, Brad specifically emphasized the need to support open source technology and digital skills training. Each congressperson serves on or chairs various committees, and we met with two members of the Work & Welfare House subcommittee, and the chair of the Communication and Technology subcommittee, among many other committee memberships. Brad had an opportunity to discuss equitable workforce training opportunities with the office of Congresswoman Joyce Beaty. They're working on quite a few initiatives supporting young women of color, and she is the representative for Brad's house district. Brad also talked with multiple congressional offices about the importance of open source software and being cautious about regulation that reduces access to affordable technology. In particular, multiple bills were being considered that would limit foreign technology use in the United States–a measure important for national security, but also potentially detrimental to small businesses who rely on the best available technology that may not be built domestically. Other local business leaders involved in the visit included: Maria Haberman, VP of Government Affairs at American Electric Power Pamela Siekman, Co-Founder & CEO of Siekman and Siekman LLC Liz Morrison, Chairman of the Board at the New Albany Chamber of Commerce and Site Coordinator at the Meta New Albany Data Center Cherie Nelson, IOM, Executive Director of the New Albany Chamber of Commerce Mimi Tanchevski, Paralegal Student, George Washington University (and New Albany High School graduate) Buckeye Innovation is grateful for the opportunity to represent central Ohio in business leadership, and Brad enjoyed the opportunity to connect with other area businesses who are as passionate about advocacy as we are. There will likely be one or more trips next year, so look for additional updates soon!
