Did you know Demonstration projects are an effective way to shift the narrative around resilient housing while showing how it can be done, and how much it costs. Thank you FEMA and others for your collaboration! We are seeking #communitypartners and funders to retrofit houses to withstand disaster in five communities across the United States. Build Change’s longest-running program began a few months after the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami devastated Aceh province. Now, 20 years later, nearly 250,000 #Indonesians are living in safer housing or learning in safer schools because of our work and team. Thank you to our partners in Indonesia, including: Caterpillar Inc., Thornton Tomasetti, The World Bank, USAID, ELMO FOUNDATION, and many more. Join us. There is much more to do as the 20th anniversary of the tsunami draws closer. Learn more: https://ow.ly/o2Gy50SIacS

Thank you Holcim for your continued partnership for #resilienthousing and #climateresilience in the Philippines. We're thrilled by the impact we're achieving together.
“I am happy and hopeful that we will be safe during natural calamities because I saw how my house was built to be stronger.” Holcim Philippines Inc. successfully completed a joint program with non-profit social innovator Build Change and ASKI Microfinance to strengthen homes in Central Luzon against severe weather and natural disasters. 🌊 🏠 The program helped 37 families in Aurora and Nueva Ecija strengthen their houses. ✅ As the pressing issue of housing inadequacy is expected to become more urgent due to climate change, we remain fully committed to addressing it in the communities where we operate. 🎥 WATCH to learn more about the program in the Philippines and hear from happy homeowners who participated. 👇 #BuildingProgress #ResilientCities #ClimateResilience

Disaster recovery and prevention go hand in hand. These important skills will help communities become more resilient to future earthquakes while also reducing carbon emissions. Indeed, re-using and improving an existing house instead of building a new one reduces embodied carbon emissions by 60%. Join Skoll Foundation and other partners to help us do more retrofits in earthquake-hit #Morocco. https://ow.ly/FjOV50SFhMj

Within the framework of the #ResilientHousing project with a focus on ethnic-racial equity, we visited the Urabá Antioqueño area in Colombia, a territory populated mostly by Afro-descendant communities that have experienced the armed conflict closely and inhabit an area highly affected by #ClimateChange. The objective of our visit is to strengthen the capacities of community organizations in housing improvement and achieve an exchange of concepts about #ResilientHousing in the territory
