Thank you to all who joined us for our #ClimateWeekNYC Friends and Family gathering last night at #Tacombi. It was great to partner with S2G Ventures for toasting, tacos and talk about how we are all working together to transition the economy. It was great to see so many familiar faces and welcome new ones, too! Over the next few days, the Builders Vision team is excited to build new connections, support our partners and look for opportunities to catalyze markets to move the climate transition forward, faster. 👏 We’re proud to share TransCap Initiative’s latest case study, which offers a comprehensive look at our oceans strategy! TransCap Initiative sits at the nexus of real-economy systems change, sustainability, and finance. In this case study, their team explores the hallmarks of systemic investing through the lens of our oceans investing and grantmaking. It showcases how our work to support a sustainable and resilient blue economy illustrates what’s distinctive about systemic investing and how other organizations across the capital spectrum can learn from it to fund systems transformation. While our work isn’t a perfect example of systemic investing, we really hope this case study sparks new ideas, approaches, and some good conversations! Thank you to the TransCap Initiative team, including Dominic Hofstetter and Jess Daggers, PhD, as well as our colleagues Peter Bryant and James Lindsay, the entire Builders Vision oceans team, and our partners at Katapult Ocean, Ocean Risk and Resilience Action Alliance, and Coral Vita for sharing their insights, along with everyone who has contributed to this effort. We hope you’ll take the time to read it at the link below, and we'd love to hear what you think! https://lnkd.in/g_yX7E8c #blueeconomy #systemschange #resilientoceans #sustainableoceans #climateaction #systemsinvesting

Climate will also be added as a new area of focus. Last week, Travertine announced a partnership with Sabin Metal Corporation to build its first demo plant at Sabin’s facility in Scottsville, NY! Travertine has developed a process that solves multiple environmental challenges at once (carbon removal, waste elimination, fossil-free chemical production) and has simultaneously created a business model with multiple revenue streams (chemical sales, hydrogen sales, carbon dioxide removal credits). This is a major step in their journey to scale the Travertine Process and business while improving the environment. We are proud to help fund this effort!” Learn more about this pioneering partnership and how we are supporting this project: https://lnkd.in/enBKGh45 And check out some great news coverage about the announcement from: Canary Media Inc.: https://lnkd.in/gZQd44qd Rochester Business Journal: https://lnkd.in/g6AizpDG Metal Tech News: https://lnkd.in/gi_3-ZEd

We’re pleased to share that the new Supply Chain Infrastructure Asset Map is now live! After a year of research and collaboration with The Climate Source, we’ve developed an interactive tool that provides a heat map of production zones and market access options for diversified crops in the Midwest—covering everything from fruits and winter oilseeds to small grains, pulses, and tree nuts. The lack of investment is a major barrier to scaling diversified crops, and feedback from our partners indicates that this is largely due to a need for greater insight and transparency in the supply chain. This map is designed to assess opportunities for investing in supply chain infrastructure that supports a more diverse cropping system. Our ultimate goal is to catalyze investment in the “missing middle” of the supply chain—processing, storage, and aggregation. With increased transparency and collaboration, we can tackle these challenges, scale up diversified crops, and build a more resilient, climate-friendly agricultural system. You can access the map for free by registering here: https://lnkd.in/gk2XHT2u A huge thank you to our partners at The Climate Source for their incredible work on this project! We hope this resource will be valuable for the entire sector, and we look forward to hearing your feedback! #RegenerativeAgriculture #Agriculture #DiversifiedCrops #SustainableFarming

Director, Investments at Builders Vision - investing in sustainable food & agriculture businesses and funds
What an awesome week in Denver at the Regenerative Food Systems Investment Forum! I am walking away feeling energized and ready to get to work. We kicked off the festivities with a happy hour Builders Vision hosted in collaboration with BDT & MSD Partners (Sarah McGraw Reichert) and Proofing Station (Cortney Renton) for our many partners and friends. During the Forum, I had the chance to co-present a case study on our exciting investment in Agroforestry Partners, with the team doing the real work on the ground to plant chestnut trees at scale in Kentucky and Ohio (Brett Hundley, CFA, Ethan S., Keavin Hill). Kristen Moree then did an amazing job highlighting our recent investment in Mad Markets and Timeless Seeds. Collaborating with Terra Regenerative Capital (Calla Rose Ostrander, Amanda Hendy, and Tara Smith Swibel) and Philip Taylor, Ph.D. has been so fun as we work to address the missing middle of our food system.
