Founders thrive with other founders. To facilitate founder connections, we at Butternut AI hosted a founder dinner in collaboration with J.P. Morgan last evening. Some insights : • AI models are evolving pretty fast. As founders, it’s exciting to use new models to improve offerings • X and LinkedIn are helping founders connect with potential customers (both b2c and b2b) • Tiktok is still an unexplored channel • Emails are going down in relevance as customers are inundated with similar formats • Paid ads are a good way to scale even now. Google and Meta rule here • Mental health takes a toll while building a startup. It’s worthwhile investing in it • Most founders were into healthy habits : good nutrition, workouts, walking meetings and more. Thrilled to see Butternut AI featured on On Deck’s Top Companies of 2024. When we did ODF last year, Butternut was just an idea and now we’re growing at a crazy pace. 🚀 🚀 What did I learn from ODF? • It's ok to start with a rough idea or market. It gets refined as you start building. • Community is super important! I've seen people become cofounders, find investors and discover their purpose at ODF. • OD doesn't end with the program. You make connections for life. • It's important to tell others about what you're building. OD had community pitch days that helped us refine how to talk about Butternut in public. Julian Weisser had pointed insights for every company. • Dinners are magical. OD actively split us into groups and planned dinners at the nicest places in SF. • Group tours build camaraderie. In our batch, we had an offsite as well as a yacht tour with the entire group. The programming on these tours helped everyone open up and share learnings with each other. • Software is essential for running communities. OD has an internal platform that helps you connect with alumni, ask Qs and find resources. • Also, OD made me fall in love with SF and the ecosystem. There's no place better than SF for people who are trying to build the next unicorn, and OD is at the heart of it.
