About us
To promote Excellence in child abuse response and prevention through Training, Program Development, Advocacy and Leadership. Children’s Advocacy Centers of Kansas (CACKS) provides facilitation, support and collaborative leadership to the CACs in the state. Each CAC in Kansas is a nationally accredited independent entity, but all CACs share a common belief in our model: a coordinated, multidisciplinary response to child abuse is the most effective and most compassionate response to abused children.

For decades and across nearly 1,000 communities nationwide, Children’s Advocacy Centers (CACs) have provided evidence-based, child-centered care for children victimized by abuse and SUPPORT for their families. Unless Congress acts, CACs will be forced to cut down on services and even close their doors due to drastic funding cuts from the Crime Victims Fund. Reps. Ann Wagner, Nathaniel Moran, Debbie Dingell, Stephanie Bice, and Jim Costa introduced the Crime Victims Fund Stabilization Act (CVFSA) in the House to protect CACs and provide access for victims to get the support they need. Senators Lisa Murkowski and Richard Durbin also introduced its companion bill in the Senate. The CVFSA is backed by 141 bipartisan co-sponsors and our goal is to reach 218 by the end of September. 🌟 Reflecting on My Journey in Child Advocacy 🌟 For over a decade, I've had the privilege of working in the field of child advocacy, a path that has profoundly shaped my life. My time as a Forensic Interviewer, speaking with over 600 children, remains some of the most meaningful work I've ever done. Being able to provide a safe space for children to share their stories after experiencing unthinkable trauma is a responsibility I have never taken lightly. While I deeply loved the direct service of interviewing children and witnessing their bravery firsthand, I am equally passionate about the opportunity I now have to bring that same dedication to others. Through teaching and mentoring professionals to become forensic interviewers, I get to help build a future where every child has the support and care they need during some of the hardest moments of their lives. It's a privilege to pass on the skills and heart needed for this work, knowing that together, we can make an even greater impact across the state of Kansas. Thank you to our members for traveling to attend our quarterly Council Meeting! We kicked off the meeting with celebrations, and there was plenty to celebrate from across the state, including: 🎗️ Awareness & Prevention Campaigns 🎉 Fundraisers 🏗️ Capital Campaigns 👥 New Team Members & Fully Staffed Teams We were fortunate to hear from Kerri Bergendahl from the Baystate Health Family Advocacy Center as we plan training initiatives for the coming years! In addition, we offered headshots, spotlight videos, and items from the GIV Warehouse. The afternoon wrapped up with Chapter notes from our team, covering priority focus areas and updates from the NCA, among other key topics.
