The Cal-Bridge Fall Conference is only one week away! The PhD Open House provides scholars the opportunity to network with faculty from various UC campuses and departments. Scholars are encouraged to ask questions specific to the departments research, labs and admission requirements to better prepare for their graduate school applications. This year, 28 different departments from many University of California campuses will connect with scholars as a part of the Fall Conference.

FULL CIRCLE MOMENT!!! ⭕️ 10 years after becoming a Cal-Bridge Scholar in the *very first* cohort, I’m serving as a CSU Faculty Mentor to one of these amazing new scholars! (She’s fantastic and you’ll certainly be hearing more about her. 😉)
Welcome to the newest cohort of Cal-Bridge Undergraduate Scholars! The incoming cohort is made up of 60 scholars from 19 CSU campuses, and is almost an even split between disciplines! We look forward to meeting these scholars in-person at the Cal-Bridge Fall Conference and at the winter and spring in-person #professionaldevelopment workshops.

Summer is officially over! Words cannot express how grateful I am to participate in Cal-Bridge Summer Research. Mentored by Dr. Robert Johnson, I learned a great deal about astroparticle physics and coding using the ROOT framework. I presented my final presentation on Friday, 16 August. Though I do not have any pictures from that event, I am happy to report that I was met with a lot of feedback that I will take with me to Cal-Bridge’s Fall Conference next month in Irvine. (Stay tuned!) I also wanted to extend a huge thank you to the graduate students, the other Cal-Bridge UCSC interns, and UCSC’s Material Science REU who came on this journey along with me. Your support and friendship will remain a lasting memory of an amazing summer.

The Cal-Bridge Fall Conference is a week and a half away! As is the tradition in Cal-Bridge, a research symposium is held each fall for the scholars to present their summer #research to the Cal-Bridge community. This year, 76 scholars will present during the Symposium at the Fall Conference!

Cal-Bridge Alumni, Angelica Whisnant, was featured in the Cal Poly Pomona Science magazine! The article discusses Angelica overcoming nervousness about public speaking and finding her calling to become a professor. Angelica recently graduated from Cal Poly Pomona and will begin her PhD Program in Astronomy at Ohio State University this Fall.
