Working to ensure affordable housing opportunities for low income and rural households since 1976.
About us
Formed in 1976 following a farmworker housing conference, CCRH is one of the oldest state low-income housing coalitions in the country. Through advocacy, organizing, research, and technical assistance, our goal is to make the case for rural housing improvement and strengthen the capacity of the nonprofit and public sectors to provide affordable housing and related facilities. Members are primarily community-based nonprofit and public developers, including the largest self-help housing producers in the United States, as well as local government officials, and local activists concerned about rural quality of life.

Austyn Perry, Racial Equity Programs Manager and Internship Program Administrator, was a panelist at the Southern California Association of NonProfit Housing (SCANPH) Conference on the "Investing in the Next Generation of Housing Leaders" session, along with our partners at Merritt Community Capital Corporation, Non-Profit Housing Association of Northern California (NPH), as well as San Diego Housing Federation. Austyn is leading the reformation of our internship program, and her participation as a panelist is a sterling example of her expertise, and CCRH is excited to benefit from it! She is changing things in meaningful ways and refocusing the program to better serve the needs of our interns. Keep an eye out for other CCRH staff at other conferences!

We're thrilled to announce the very first in-person training sessions for our new Rural Housing Visionary Organizational Leadership Program is in the books! We have a gallery of pics we'd love to share with you from the training sessions held recently, on September 16 to 18, 2024. This program has been a long-held dream shaped by discussions with the founders of CCRH’s Internship Program, insights from funders and developers, and, the voices of our amazing CCRH internship program alumni and emerging BIPOC leaders in rural housing. Watching this vision come to life with our first cohort is truly a dream come true! Our legacy CCRH internship program has been a fantastic entry for young BIPOC individuals beginning their careers in affordable housing. However, we recognized a gap in support for mid-career BIPOC leaders aiming to advance into higher leadership roles. This new program is our response, providing intensive management and leadership training for BIPOC fellows, alongside allyship training for their supervisors and executive directors. Together, we’re preparing and supporting these fellows for greater leadership opportunities within their organizations, helping to retain talent in rural housing and strengthen organizations overall. We’ve assembled an incredible team of consultants—Matt Huerta Consulting in partnership with Erick Díaz and Nelson Layag—to develop and deliver a curriculum with invaluable training sessions over the next 18 months. Our Fellows will also benefit from mentorship and professional coaching. We hold deep respect for our Fellows, their lived experiences, their commitment to personal growth, and their dedication to uplifting their teams and communities. Our Fellows are simply the best, and we feel so honored to collaborate with such a talented group of young BIPOC leaders in rural housing. A big congratulations to the organizations selected to participate! Cabrillo Economic Development Corporation Housing Authority of the City of San Buenaventura MidPen Housing Corporation People's Self-Help Housing Self-Help Enterprises Your investment in developing and supporting BIPOC leaders in rural housing is commendable, and we’re excited to embark on this journey together! At the recent San Joaquin Valley Housing Collaborative Summit, CCRH played a major part in the festivities. Our very own Eusevio Ortega was instrumental in organizing the conference, supporting SJVHC's Board of Directors and Executive Director in the months leading to the conference. With Eusevio's help, the conference hosted a record (!) number of registrants. Additionally, our Jocelyn Baltazar hosted the panel "AHSC: Best Practices and Lessons Learned," with panelists Marc Caswell (Strategic Growth Council), Betsy McGovern-Garcia (Self-Help Enterprises) and Jessica H Berzac (UPholdings). A successful and popular panel, Jocelyn's event was met with positive feedback. For a long history of service to SJVHC, CCRH received an award at the conference, and our Executive Director, Alicia HF Sebastian, accepted the award on behalf of the organization. Our team—especially those highlighted here—played large roles in the success of the San Joaquin Valley Housing Collaborative Summit, please give them a huge round of applause! Excited to be at the NPH Affordable Housing Conference this morning! 🎉 Being surrounded by such incredible talent reminds me just how important it is to build and strengthen the pipeline for young leaders in affordable housing. In the picture below, we have three (out of 11!) amazing current interns and one accomplished alum from the CCRH Internship Program. We wish the rest of the cohort was here for a photo op! Also - big shout-out to our unofficial sister program at NPH— the BAHIP staff and their interns. Thank you for the invitation! Izanie LoveNed and Monica Joe Keep an eye out for our college students and young professionals as they shape the future of housing. 🏡✨ #AffordableHousing #NPH2024 #LeadershipDevelopment #NPHConference #CCRHInternshipProgram

In 2022, the California governor & state leaders set a goal to build 1M new affordable homes by 2030. But only 1% of our state budget is being allocated to housing. Even worse, $1B was cut from our housing & homelessness budget this year: this is not okay. We need #OneMillionHomes now!
