Join our team in welcoming Joy Jacobs!✨ CFF is excited to introduce Joy Jacobs as the new Central Coast Area Regional Director. Joy will be responsible for overseeing Monterey and Santa Barbara counties, including Salinas and Santa Maria Valley. Based in Monterey County, she brings extensive experience in agricultural education, leadership development, outreach, and engagement. With 24 years of management experience and a background in agriculture and the nonprofit sector, Joy previously led a farmworker education program for the California strawberry industry. She furthered her education by earning a Master of Public Health from George Washington University and dedicated over a decade to community development with the U.S. Peace Corps in the Dominican Republic, focusing on youth in farming communities. Today, our CFF staff and board had the privilege of meeting with Rep. Jim Costa to address the essential needs of farmworkers across the Central Valley and the state. During the meeting, we shared the ongoing efforts we make to offer concrete solutions to address farmworker healthcare, education, and workforce development. Additionally, Rep. Costa listened to firsthand accounts from farmworkers detailing the challenges they encounter daily, which significantly affect their lives and families. We would like to express our appreciation to Rep. We will be awarding over $40,000 in scholarships to individuals who are children of farmworkers and are pursuing higher education. Today, a food distribution event took place at the Five Points intersection, where over 700 food boxes were given out to support the farm-working community in Five Points and nearby areas. This joint effort between CFF and Central California Food Bank highlights our ongoing commitment to assisting the agricultural community. What began as a monthly distribution of 300 has evolved into a more frequent operation. Currently, distributions happen every Friday of the month and have seen a doubling in demand. Items include but not limited to oranges, tangerines, apples, tortillas, rice, milk, various vegetables and additional items. The food distribution at Five Points offers access to nutritious food and essential economic support for a community in great need. #CFF #BuildingBetterFutures
