Calpine Energy Solutions, LLC's Midwest team sponsored a fun-filled day for Bounce families in the Chicagoland area. Over 400 people gathered at Goebbert’s pumpkin patch farm in Pingree Grove, IL for a day of arts-and- crafts, petting zoo animals, camel rides, private wagon rides, apple cider donuts and, of course, pumpkins. We had an incredible day engaging with families at the largest Bounce event in the charity's history!   Bounce Children's Foundation transforms the lives of chronically ill children, and their families, shifting all from surviving to thriving. Calpine Energy Solutions is dedicated to supporting its communities and actively contributes to foundations like Bounce. A special thank you to the Calpine families that came to volunteer!

"...Prices in the PJM Interconnection’s latest capacity auction hit record highs, which should provide incentives for power plant companies to build new generating resources and keep existing ones operating, according to the grid operator. For the majority of the PJM region, capacity prices for the 2025/26 delivery year soared to $269.92/MW-day, up from $28.92/MW-day in the last auction, the grid operator said in an auction report. Prices hit zonal caps of $466.35/MW-day for the Baltimore Gas and Electric zone in Maryland, and $444.26/MW-day for the Dominion zone in Virginia and North Carolina. The auction’s total cost to consumers jumped to $14.7 billion from $2.2 billion in the last auction. The spike in capacity prices was driven by power plant retirements, increased load, and new market rules that aim to better reflect risks from extreme weather — coupled with new resource accreditation metrics that are designed to reflect how much capacity a resource delivers during system stresses, Stu Bresler, PJM executive vice president for market services and strategy, said during a media briefing..."

Award Wednesday Announcement! OCED awarded $12.5M (of the total federal cost share of up to $270 million) to the Carbon Capture Demonstration Project Program’s Baytown Carbon Capture and Storage Project, led by Calpine Texas CCUS Holdings, an indirect subsidiary of Calpine, to begin activities in Phase 1. Calpine plans to build a carbon capture demonstration facility that would capture carbon dioxide (CO2) from the Baytown Energy Center, a natural gas combined power plant in Baytown, Texas. During Phase 1, Calpine will complete an integrated Front-End Engineering and Design (FEED) study to determine the specifications for CO2 capture, transport, and storage components. During this phase, the project team will also start workforce planning, project permitting, and complete a National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) review process.
