A few of our leaders
From Puppy to Hero
Expertly trained in up to 45 tasks, Canine Companions service dogs enhance independence every day for children, adults and veterans with disabilities. Our puppies are raised by volunteer puppy raisers who spend 16-18 months socializing and training to set them up for success as future service dogs. Once the dogs enter professional service dog training, they spend six to nine months learning advanced skills from our instructors before ultimately matching with their partners during Team Training.

September is National Service Dog Month, a nationwide celebration honoring the hard work and life-changing impact service dogs make on people with disabilities every day. We educate and promote the importance of service dogs so that communities can continue to increase advocacy and advance service dog rights.
