CDTA in partnership with Luminator Technology Group (powered by Gauzy Safety Tech - Leading the way to smarter mobility), is excited to announce the installation of a mirrorless driver assistance system. CDTA is the first transit system in New York State to remove side mirrors from vehicles and use a mirrorless system. CDTA received an exemption from the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles to remove the side mirrors on CDTA buses. 

CDTA will pilot an electric scooter program called SCOOT, beginning Friday, October 4, 2024. There will be pop-up events in Albany, Troy, Schenectady, and Saratoga Springs for people to give the scooters a try. Drop Mobility

CDTA, the American Cancer Society of the Capital Region, and community partners are excited to kick off the Men Wear Pink Campaign and unveil two CDTA pink buses. The Capital Region community will now officially start seeing the iconic pink CDTA 40’ bus and the Real Kids Wear Pink STAR bus on the streets to raise awareness and support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. CDTA in partnership with the City of Albany, New York, St. Peter's Health Partners, and Maria College, will begin construction on a new mobility hub on South Manning Boulevard, near the entrance of St. Peter’s Hospital. Construction is expected to begin on the Manning Boulevard Mobility Hub on Monday, July 15, 2024. This will be CDTA’s third mobility hub.

The Northway Xpress (NX) and Thruway Xpress (TX) commuter services are not running. Weekday service will resume tomorrow, July 5, 2024. Chief Executive Officer of the Capital District Transportation Authority, Carm Basile, announced he will retire at the end of 2024. Over the last 15 years, Basile has focused on making the CDTA strong, respected, and recognizable. From buses to branding, Basile has raised the profile of the Authority, ensuring the organization matters just as much to those who will never ride with CDTA as those who ride every day.
