This past September, MPZ Development LLC and Capstone Communities LLC were honored to join the Executive Office of Housing and Livable Communities, Town of Bridgewater MA, Massachusetts Housing Investment Corporation, MHP (Massachusetts Housing Partnership), MassHousing, and The Life Initiative for the Grand Opening of The McElwain School Apartments. The celebration marked the delivery of 57 apartment homes to the Greater Bridgewater community, 51 of which are affordable in perpetuity. Once a school building that sat vacant for 20+ years, The McElwain School Apartments received a $1.345M Community Preservation Act contribution, the Town of Bridgewater’s first state and federal historic tax credit project and includes the first Passive House multifamily building (PHIUS) to open in Plymouth County. Thank you to our many project partners, funders and supporters who made this momentous day possible! It was an opportunity to share best practices and anecdotes permitting affordable housing across the Commonwealth.
