Carbon Free New York proudly relaunches as we commemorate five years since the CLCPA's signing, reaffirming our dedication to decarbonizing New York's power sector. We advocate for the inclusion of a Cap-and-Invest program, a critical step towards aligning carbon emission reductions with economic growth and environmental stewardship. Here’s why we support this initiative: ♻ Carbon Reductions: A Cap-and-Invest program in the power sector is vital for meeting New York's ambitious climate targets, ensuring that polluters are held accountable while fostering innovation and cost-effective emission reductions. 💡 Green Jobs & Infrastructure: This approach will drive substantial investments in renewable energy, energy efficiency, and clean technology, creating thousands of high-quality jobs and modernizing our energy infrastructure. 🌱 Equity & Public Health: Prioritizing the needs of disadvantaged communities, this program will improve air quality and health outcomes, ensuring that the benefits of a clean energy future are shared widely. We support the efforts of NYS Department of Environmental Conservation and NYSERDA and urge the inclusion of the power sector to ensure polluters pay for their emissions.
