NYSERDA’s On-the-Job Training program is celebrating an exciting milestone! 211 businesses and counting have hired and trained more than 2,000 new workers to fill clean energy jobs around New York State. RTS marked an important milestone today as we celebrated the addition of hydrogen fuel cell electric buses to our fleet. Thank you to Congressman Joe Morelle, NYSDOT Commissioner Marie Therese Dominguez, NYS Senator Jeremy Cooney, and NYS Assemblyman Bill Magnarelli and our invited guests for helping us celebrate the occasion. These two hydrogen buses, and the 10 we have on order, combined with the 20 plug-in battery electric buses already in service have us well on our way towards meeting our goal of having a zero-emission bus fleet by 2040. We’re thrilled to announce the completion of three #rooftopsolar systems at RED HOOK CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT, made possible through a $1.7M investment by NYPA. These systems have a combined capacity of 600 kilowatts and will generate over 630 megawatt-hours of #energy annually, supplying more than 30% of the district's #electricity.   This initiative supports #NewYork's goal of achieving 70% #renewableenergy by 2030 and transitioning to a carbon-free grid by 2040. Additionally, the district stands to gain nearly $80,000 in utility credits each year while reducing #greenhousegasemissions by approximately 80 metric tons—equivalent to removing nearly 9,000 gallons of gasoline from the road.   Led by Director of DER Advisory Benjamin M. Cuozzo, our Distributed Energy Resources (DER) team played a crucial role in managing these projects. Solar success!! 🎯New York has installed six gigawatts of distributed solar, achieving its Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act goal a year ahead of schedule. Governor Kathy Hochul announced that the six gigawatts of distributed solar, enough to power more than one million homes and businesses, generated approximately $9.2 billion in private investment, with over 14,000 solar jobs created statewide. New York is the national leader in community solar deployments allowing renters, low-income residents, and others who cannot install their own panels to participate in and benefit from solar energy. https://lnkd.in/eJQS94v3
