Child care is infrastructure, period.

Let’s say that the entire highway infrastructure in this country was crumbling. People struggle to find a highway they can drive on. It impacts their ability to get to work. And solutions tossed on the table include: 1. Let people choose if they would rather walk, ride a bike or just stay home. Whatever works best for them. 2. Give them a bit of money and let them figure it out while not detailing a plan for how the roads actually get fixed. I want someone to come to the table with a real plan to fix the roads: 1. Invest in the infrastructure 2. Commit to a standard of road conditions that are maintained 3. Ensure fair wages for those who build roads 4. Cap individual investment in road maintenance 5. Acknowledgement that without roads, the economy fails Now, replace “highways” with “childcare.”
