In 2021, the Surgeon General announced a public health emergency for the mental and behavioral health of youth and young adults. The pandemic brought to light and exacerbated existing challenges in the behavioral health space. Post-pandemic, our youth and young adults, even older adults, are still experiencing detrimental behavioral health challenges and disparities that must be addressed. These challenges cannot be solved by one organization alone. It will take the combined resources and expertise of the industry and community to effectively tackle this situation. That’s why we gathered local experts from Inova Health, VHC Health, CloseKnit, Arlington Public Schools, Arlington Free Clinic and Northern Virginia Community College's Medical Education Campus for our Northern Virginia Community Health Forum. At the Forum, our experts discussed current trends and challenges in behavioral health along with potential solutions for the toughest challenges patients are facing. This is one of many conversations we’re excited to have to better align resources and business decisions that strategically support the health and wellness of our community. We’re looking forward to connecting with our experts and partners on these solutions soon. #CareFirstCares

We’re cheering on the Baltimore Orioles today as they take on the Kansas City Royals in their first game of the MLB Postseason. The Orioles are an outstanding team on and off the field. Thanks to their partnership, we’ve made a meaningful impact in our communities by addressing food insecurity and increasing job opportunities with The Food Project. Good luck, O’s! Access to mental health resources is crucial for everyone, but especially in communities where social drivers of health cause barriers to getting care. This Hispanic Heritage Month and all year long, we prioritize partnerships with organizations like Identity, Inc. who are dedicated to providing vital behavioral health resources for Latino youth. Thanks to WRC-TV (NBC4 Washington) in Washington, D.C. for helping us spotlight the incredible work they’re doing. Watch the video to learn more. #HispanicHeritageMonth #CareFirstCares
