Introducing the Researcher Spotlight Series
Welcome to our LinkedIn series, "Researcher Spotlight," where we periodically showcase researchers who are making significant contributions to their fields. Our goal is to highlight their work, dedication, and impact, fostering a deeper appreciation and understanding of their research and its crucial role in advancing future health cures and interventions.
This Edition's Featured Researcher: Professor Jeroen Hendriks
Dr Jeroen Hendriks, RN, MSc, PhD, holds the inaugural Leo J Mahar Cardiovascular Nursing Chair at the College of Nursing and Health Sciences, Flinders University, and the Department of Cardiology, Royal Adelaide Hospital. In this clinical academic role, he aims to develop a collaborative of academic and clinical excellence to support joint research endeavours between Flinders University and the Central Adelaide Local Health Network (CALHN).
An Academic Nurse and Health Scientist, Jeroen completed his PhD at the Maastricht University Medical Centre in The Netherlands, focusing on developing integrated care through specialised atrial fibrillation (AF) clinics. His doctoral studies proved improved outcomes and highlighted the essential role of specialised nurses in managing these clinics.
After earning his PhD, he undertook post-doctoral training at the Department of Health, Medicine and Caring Sciences, Linköping University, Sweden, investigating eHealth programs for patients with cardiac arrhythmias. In 2015, he assumed the Derek Frewin Lectureship at the Centre for Heart Rhythm Disorders, University of Adelaide, to further explore novel models of care, such as integrated care, for patients with cardiac arrhythmias and associated cardiovascular conditions.
Over the past decade, Jeroen has built an international reputation in integrated care management and the necessary practice redesign and healthcare reform for implementing such approaches. He also holds a Future Leader Fellowship from the Australian Heart Foundation, reflecting his significant contributions to the field.
Stay tuned for future editions of "Researcher Spotlight," where we'll introduce more remarkable researchers and their ground breaking work.
