We had a good ol' time at the Galveston Regional Chamber of Commerce's Annual Meeting and Country Music Fest, celebrating the Chamber's 180th anniversary! We proudly supported the Chamber and cheered on our partners, the Galveston Wharves at Port of Galveston and GalTex Pilots, who received well-deserved awards. Special thanks to Cornerstone Travel, the Galveston Seafarers Center, and our guest port services team for joining us. Congratulations to the team on Carnival Celebration, the first place winner of the Carnival Corporation inaugural HESS & Sustainability Ship Excellence Awards!  🏆 HESS stands for our commitment to Health, Environmental, Safety & Sustainability. This award recognizes and celebrates the “best of the best” among the incredible work being done by all of the teams across the Carnival Corporation fleet each and every day! And Carnival Celebration is the ship of the year for 2024! The award was presented to the team by our Carnival Corporation & plc President, CEO and Chief Climate Officer Josh Weinstein, along with Chief Maritime Officer Vice Admiral Bill Burke. I am so, so proud of this team for their dedication to excellence!

This week we hosted the first wave of our Senior Officers Leadership Conference in Orlando, bringing together Captains, Chief Engineers, and Hotel Directors from across our fleet. Over 70 senior officers engaged in meaningful collaboration, idea-sharing and team building with our leadership team. We look forward to welcoming more senior officers for wave two this weekend! This week, we honored and congratulated Ivan Vatovic on his promotion to Captain! His achievement was celebrated in a special ceremony performed at HQ by our President Christine Duffy. Since beginning his career with us in 2009, Captain Vatovic has worked his way up through several roles across the majority of the fleet’s ship classes, gaining a wealth of knowledge and experience. Carnival Firenze Godfather and actor Jonathan Bennett, who just served as the host for the 2024 Times Square New Year’s Eve Celebration, recreates the iconic television commercial featuring our friend Kathie Lee Gifford that aired nearly 40 years ago in the 1980s! Kathie Lee, Godmother to the original Carnival Celebration, television host, actress, singer/songwriter, and author, famously sang “Ain’t We Got Fun” while promoting Carnival in our first ever national TV advertising campaign.
