Engineering professionals: Join us this May 1st and 2nd for a two-day in-person workshop to learn about the new CoastWise Approach for tidal road crossing design. Modeled after the statewide Stream Smart program for non-tidal crossings, CoastWise supports coastal Maine communities in building safe road crossings that accommodate the tides, sea level rise, and increasingly powerful storm surge, while fostering a healthy ecosystem. This pilot training is free for all participants. Register at the link below. https://lnkd.in/eWqvddr7

CBEP would like to introduce our new Staff Scientist, Janelle Goeke, Ph.D. Janelle joins us from Florida, where she studied how fish and aquatic plants can support restoration efforts in the Florida Everglades and before that, studied crabs and snails in Gulf of Mexico saltmarshes. Janelle is originally from New York State, where she first developed an interest in aquatic ecosystems studying harmful algal blooms in a local lake. With CBEP she'll be working with many regional partners to carry out eelgrass restoration and coordinate monitoring efforts and data collection in the Casco Bay watershed.
