Love. Laughter. Companionship. We support people and cats in the PNW — join us in saving lives! Nonprofit cat shelter.

About us

Cat Adoption Team (CAT) is the Pacific Northwest’s largest nonprofit, feline-only animal shelter. Our mission is to save the lives of cats and to work with our community to provide feline expertise and quality programs and services for people and cats. Currently we achieve this mission by: • Providing shelter, medical care, evaluation, and treatment to cats who have become homeless • Finding homes for the cats and kittens in our care • Providing people who care for cats with resources, education, and support to help keep human-animal bonds strong and prevent cats from becoming homeless • Offering low-cost spay/ neuter services to support people in caring for their pet cats • Working closely with other organizations to implement projects and programs that positively impact cats and people at a community and regional level More than 60,000 cats and kittens have found loving new homes through the Cat Adoption Team since our founding in 1998. Those currently awaiting adoption receive daily care from a trained, dedicated group of staff and volunteers. CAT works closely with animal welfare organizations, animal control agencies, veterinary offices, and other shelters to care for and rehome cats or kittens who may otherwise face euthanasia. We are dedicated to finding the right home for every feline we take in. We believe everyone deserves the love, laughter, and companionship that cats bring into our lives. And we believe in supporting people to provide their cats with healthy, happy lives! As a nonprofit organization, CAT relies on charitable contributions, volunteers, and service fees. Please visit our website for more information about how you can get involved and be a part of this live saving work.

Heather will bring her expertise to a live discussion, Accessibility in Animal Welfare: Increase Lifesaving with Access for All, on Thursday, August 22, at 5pm ET. "It’s easy to have a conversation with someone and write them off as someone who shouldn’t own a pet or as someone who can’t bring anything beneficial to the work that we do, when, in reality, we just may not be connecting with them because of their unique mind," says Reagan Daughtry, National Operations Support Specialist at Best Friends Animal Society. "If we as a community highlight the importance of tailoring our communication styles to the people we’re serving to match those diverse minds, I think we would find a goldmine of support." Reagan will bring her expertise and lived experience as an animal welfare professional with ADHD to a live discussion, Accessibility in Animal Welfare: Increase Lifesaving with Access for All, on Thursday, August 22, at 5pm ET. She will be joined by additional panelists: 📌 Alison Fechino: Chief Executive Officer, Norfolk Animal Care Center 📌 Heather Miller: Development and Communications Director, Cat Adoption Team 📌 Kristan McCormick: Senior Manager, Regional – East Coast, Best Friends Animal Society 📌 Joyce Quinzel: Senior Analyst, DXC Operations, Best Friends Animal Society. This panel will be moderated by Samuel White, Manager of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging at Best Friends Animal Society. Register to join us live at the link in the comments.

It's Foster Appreciation Week and we 😻 our fosters! Whether they're helping a sick cat recover, bottle-feeding newborn kittens, or coaxing a shy kitty out of their shell, our foster volunteers put their full hearts into the felines they foster. It's not always easy, but it's always rewarding and it really makes a huge difference! Last year, more than 100 volunteers fostered 1,004 kittens and cats. So far this year, over 670 kitties have been through the foster program at CAT. Hooray!! #FosteringSavesLives
