The rewards to successfully selecting active managers are alive and well, says Causeway portfolio manager Joe Gubler in this Global Investment Institute interview. "We want to be the people that know the companies in the portfolio better than anyone else." Causeway portfolio manager Alessandro Valentini discussed with Investor's Business Daily the wealth of investment opportunities beyond the market's narrow focus, cyclical value versus restructuring value, and why he likes to buy stocks that have priced-in bad news. #valueinvesting

With back-to-school season comes the completion of our 2024 summer internship programs. We had the pleasure of hosting eight undergraduate and graduate interns at Causeway’s LA, Dallas, and Philly offices. They immersed themselves in research, client service, IT, operations, and business development, exploring their interests, deepening their industry knowledge, and sharpening their technical skills. Thank you Bautista Zucca, Cheyenne N., Elaine Ma, Keely Comizio, Sofia Villafuerte, Bruce Yu and our other interns for bringing your ambition, commitment, and inquisitiveness to Causeway this summer. We also extend our gratitude to our program partners: Girls Who Invest, SEO (Sponsors for Educational Opportunity), STREAM Foundation, and the universities that helped make these internships possible. Wishing our interns and students everywhere a successful and inspiring school year ahead!

Causeway’s head of quantitative research Arjun Jayaraman shared his take on the South Korean equity market with Bloomberg’s Youkyung Lee and John Cheng. As the Fed eases, Arjun expects the Korean won will gain momentum and attract foreign equity inflows. “Korea should be positively impacted by a potentially weaker dollar,” said Jayaraman. Read more on the potential for Fed rate cuts to affect Korean market flows here (link may be paywalled): https://lnkd.in/gyJDAAir

Student of Business administration at Texas A&M seeking a BBA degree in Management Information Systems
Last week I had to say goodbye to my first ever internship in Los Angeles, California working for Causeway Capital Management! I want to start of by showing my gratitude towards my mentors and colleagues who made the transition to Los Angeles very easy. Being able to work in Operations, Client Services, and Business Development really opened my eyes into what goes into a successful business and can’t thank everyone enough for being so approachable and allowing me to learn as much as I could with the time I had with their respective groups. I am also thankful for the opportunity to seek my interest in Technology with the project I was able to work on for JoAnna Loera Apfel’s group as well as Kevin Moutes’ group. It was really eye opening for me to see how everyone is attempting to adapt to the advancements in Technology even in the field of Finance. I would also like to extend my gratitude towards Keisha M.’s group for showing me the ins and outs of Trade settlements, Proxy voting, Cash flows, Reconciliations, Dividend releases and many other parts of the Daily work for Operations. It is very nice to see how tight of a group they are and how everyone is working together towards a common goal instead of trying to outshine one another. Finally, I would like to extend my gratitude to SEO (Sponsors for Educational Opportunity) for the opportunity, and the mentorship I got leading up to and also during my internship. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for me and will hold a piece of Causeway in my future endeavors forever, thank you for this wonderful experience!
