#Podcast #Colombia #DigitalEconomy | "Before COVID-19, 29% of formal small businesses in Colombia sold their products outside their physical location. After COVID-19, that number increased to 46%. This growth is also tied to the rise of virtual payments, virtual meetings, and the development of a digital culture within businesses," stated Pablo Lemoine, President of Centro Nacional de Consultoría. We invite you to listen to the latest episode of CIPE’s podcast, Democracy that Delivers, to discover the key findings from a survey exploring how SMEs in Colombia are adopting technology to enhance their businesses. https://bit.ly/4gPkvuO Center for International Private Enterprise

Business Ombudsman Roman Waschuk visited the Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE) in Washington. He met with the head of the Ukrainian division, John Templeton Kay, to discuss collaboration with business associations and support for targeted tax reforms. Roman Waschuk also raised the issue of Ukraine’s regional trade with neighboring countries and the customs challenges faced by businesses during discussions with Jose Raul Perales, Deputy Director of the Global Alliance for Trade Facilitation, and Natalia Otel Belan, Director of the Europe and Eurasia Division at CIPE. While customs overload creates numerous problems for entrepreneurs, it also fosters trade with European countries and contributes to economic growth. #RomanWaschuk #CIPE #customs_issues #tax_reforms #business_support

Democracy thrives in inclusive economies. A recent survey in El Salvador revealed only 30% of women participated in entrepreneurship training, versus 50% of men. CIPE’s Women’s Business Resource Centers in Guatemala, Papua New Guinea, and Ethiopia have successfully increased women’s participation. #Armenia | The new Corporate Governance Code of Armenia marks a major step forward in improving corporate governance standards. Aimed at promoting #transparency, #accountability, and #EthicalBusiness practices, it brings local frameworks in line with international best practices. However, effective implementation and enforcement pose challenges that require stakeholder collaboration. On September 24, the Center for International Private Enterprise, in partnership with its long-standing partner the Corporate Governance Center (CGC), jointly with the Commercial Law Development Program (CLDP), the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Armenia, and the Asian Development Bank (ADB), hosted the "New RA Corporate Governance Code: Implementation & Enforcement Issues" workshop, attended by around 100 participants. The event provided a forum for stakeholders to discuss these challenges. Through expert panels, interactive simulations, and shared experiences, participants examined the code's core principles and developed strategies to overcome compliance obstacles, aiming to strengthen corporate governance in Armenia. #CorporateGovernance #GovernanceStandards #GovernanceCode
