#Armenia | CIPE’s "Corrosive Capital and Strategic Corruption Offline and Online Training for Investigative Journalists" program, supported by the UK International Development, concluded on January 24 with the final session hosted by the Central Bank of Armenia. During this session, participants gained valuable insights into the Central Bank's role and practices in combating money laundering and terrorism financing. After the training, the program held a certificate award ceremony. Participants from both cohorts received certificates recognizing their active participation and copies of the Tracking Corrosive Capital guidebook, which a leading media expert tailored to the local context. His Majesty’s Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to the Republic of Armenia, John Gallagher, presented the certificates, underscoring the critical role investigative journalism plays in addressing Corrosive Capital and Strategic Corruption in Armenia. This 1.5-month program equipped participants with essential skills to investigate and report on complex financial and corruption-related issues. CIPE Europe & Eurasia

Center for International Private Enterprise reposted this
I am delighted to announce the start of a new project on assessing the impact of the EU corporate sustainability legislation on companies in ASEAN. The project has been commissioned by CIPE, the Center for International Private Enterprise (https://lnkd.in/e-jVegNY) The Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CS3D) will place new demands on companies throughout global supply chains. Given the uneven state of business standards in the ASEAN region, how can companies in the region comply with this ambitious new legislation? Our team of researchers, brought together by IBLF Global, will assess what are called “pain points”, in other words, the key capacity issues and knowledge gaps that must be overcome if companies in ASEAN are to attain the sustainability standards demanded by the EU. Our report will equip a wide range of stakeholders from the public and private sectors to prepare for the new legislation. It will be used by regulators and the multinational and national companies with large supply chains in the region to stimulate legal and regulatory reform, introduce new codes of conduct, and promote the best principles and practices. It will help to inspire and incentivise a new generation of SMEs to do business in a new way. Meet our team, consisting of top practitioners from five ASEAN countries: (from left to right): Yunety Tarigan (Indonesia), Dr Mark Lovatt (Malaysia), Clara Feng (Singapore), Jose Solomon Cortez (Philippines) and Tanatat Puttasuwan (Thailand). Watch this space for further updates about the project and our findings!

We couldn’t agree more with Kristalina Georgieva – the time is now to expand economic stability through economic opportunity. Let’s support #governments in creating environments that help private sectors everywhere create jobs and reduce poverty. CIPE champions innovation, reform, and smart regulations that help global markets thrive.
Global growth needs a boost through higher productivity, and entrepreneurship is key. The private sector drives creativity and innovation, and policymakers must focus on improving the business environment: from cutting red tape and increasing competition, to rewarding innovation, strengthening education systems and deepening capital markets so that promising start-ups can reach commercial viability while the industries of yesterday adapt to new realities. At the IMF we are setting up a new Advisory Council on Entrepreneurship and Growth to develop ideas to ease barriers, fuel innovation, and drive productivity. My piece in The Washington Post describes why better productivity growth will mean better prospects for people and ultimately a more stable, peaceful world. https://lnkd.in/eAACK-Pc
