Meaning, joy, and beauty are at the heart of safe communities. That’s why our programs include art and design as part of the healing process for both people and the places they call home. With the hands and vision of the community, beautiful pieces and spaces are created with the essence of the people that live there. Green spaces are in short supply in historically marginalized neighborhoods, but investing in them makes for safer, healthier communities. 🌳 By bringing community members, courts, and local service providers together, we can make that investment in a way that meets the needs of young people, those involved in the justice system, and people struggling with food insecurity. ➡️ Swipe through to see some of our green space projects in Syracuse and Manhattan, and read more here: https://lnkd.in/gCvmPHck 🌱

B-Live is much more than a typical festival—it’s a shining example of what #CommunityJustice can look like in a place like Brownsville. 🎙️ Much like the Brownsville Community Justice Center itself, B-Live meets a crucial need for creative initiatives led by the community, for the community. It’s a reminder that Brownsville is much more than the challenges it faces, with the power to stimulate economic mobility, create new opportunities for young people, and pave the way towards a stronger, safer future. Thanks to our collaborators BRIC (Arts & Media in Brooklyn) and Warner Music Group for making B-Live possible. Read more on The Arc today: https://lnkd.in/e2_3YaBG

This #InternationalPodcastDay, subscribe to New Thinking, where host Matt Watkins talks to the people working to reform—or remake—the criminal legal system. Revisit this powerful episode, where April Barber Scales and Anthony Willis explore how they fought against a prison system that "sets you up for failure" and their work on behalf of those they left behind—the many people still serving life sentences no less deserving of a second chance. 🎧 Listen today: https://lnkd.in/eJn7ckhh

One week since B-Live and we’re still smiling. 🎙️ 💜 Last Saturday Brownsville Community Justice Center hosted a vibrant day full of music, dancing, and fun for the Brownsville community. Powered by BRIC (Arts & Media in Brooklyn), we saw performances from Dave East and Cassidy and partied in the last of the summer sun. Thanks to our Justice Innovator Warner Music Group for sponsoring the event. 🎉
