Central Hudson Gas & Electric Corporation is a regulated transmission and distribution utility serving approximately 300,000 electric customers and 80,000 natural gas customers in New York State’s Mid-Hudson Valley. We deliver natural gas and electricity in a defined service territory that extends from the suburbs of metropolitan New York City north to the Capital District at Albany. Central Hudson is a leader in promoting regional economic growth, improving system reliability and effective cost management.     Central Hudson is designing an exciting new geothermal energy network pilot project in the City of Poughkeepsie. Environmental benefits and cost savings are some key goals of this geothermal network. This pilot project will provide the information needed to understand how neighborhood-level geothermal projects can be scaled up for increased numbers of customers in the future.

    We were honored to participate in Orange County FoodTEC’s ribbon cutting today at the newly renovated commercial kitchen and training space at the SUNY Orange Newburgh campus. The facility will advance the success of students and employers in our region’s food, beverage, and hospitality sectors. Central Hudson provided a $200,000 economic development grant in support of the project.     Central Hudson’s Emily Gambacorta served as an expert panelist during the Women's Leadership Alliance presentation on Inclusive Leadership yesterday. Participants were able to network and gain knowledge to support inclusive leadership in their own workplaces. Central Hudson also sponsored this event. The Women’s Leadership Alliance is a committee of the Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce.     October is #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth. This week our Customer Services group raised funds and awareness to support those who are impacted. In 2024, more than 360,000 people will be diagnosed with breast cancer. But there is hope. Advancements in early detection methods and support continue to increase the chances of survival. According to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, when caught in its earliest, localized stages, the 5-year relative survival rate of breast cancer is 99 percent. Early detection is key.
