October is #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth. This week our Customer Services group raised funds and awareness to support those who are impacted. In 2024, more than 360,000 people will be diagnosed with breast cancer. But there is hope. Advancements in early detection methods and support continue to increase the chances of survival. According to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, when caught in its earliest, localized stages, the 5-year relative survival rate of breast cancer is 99 percent. Early detection is key. Central Hudson’s exciting outreach program brings the magic of theater to life with 56 live performances at 51 local elementary schools this October and November. The National Theatre for Children will engage and entertain students with interactive shows that teach them all about energy safety, renewable energy, and conservation — while having a blast! With this initiative, we’re set to reach 14,594 curious young minds in 2024. It’s not just a performance; it’s a fun-filled journey into the world of energy!

We sponsored UDig NY's 4th annual Damage Prevention Conference & Expo, hosted at the MJN Convention Center in Poughkeepsie on Oct. 15-16. The event connects excavators, facility operators, utility representatives and students from around New York state to collaborate and train. We held natural gas safety exercises in Wappingers Falls and Coxsackie this month with police, fire, EMS and other emergency response personnel. During these drills, participants perform or simulate all the steps they would take during a real emergency. These exercises are vital for keeping everyone’s skills sharp so we can work together to keep the public safe. Thank you to all the participants!
