Kramer Sharp and Thomas Dudley launched Certified Employee-Owned in 2017 to help companies unlock the competitive advantages of employee ownership. Over the past seven years, we’ve grown our network to over 700 companies - nearly 10% of all employee-owned companies across the United States. For all the success we’ve seen, we believe Certified EO remains at the beginning of its journey. Only 1 in 200 American companies are employee-owned. That means employee ownership can be an unfamiliar concept for most American workers, especially those new to the workforce. Companies that are employee-owned can struggle to convey the real benefits of employee ownership to their younger workforce. Ironically, young employees often have the most to gain from employee ownership both financially and culturally. We are proud to be founding coalition members of this exciting new effort to expand ESOPs!! Employee Stock Ownership Plans have changed millions of lives, and there is so much potential for growth. This goal of Expanding ESOPs is to build on that success by finding new levers to grow employee ownership in America. #esop #employeeownership
Today we are announcing a new coalition of more than 50 organizations called Expanding ESOPs whose mission is to put new energy behind an old idea, Employee Stock Ownership Plans (ESOPs). There is a path to a more inclusive and stronger economy underpinned by #employeeownership but it will take supportive government policy -- we need to modernize the #ESOP laws from 50 years ago. It may sound daunting to pass legislation in today's environment but it can be done for an idea that is so popular across the political spectrum. Pinch me! I think I'm dreaming! Fireclay Tile has partnered with Room & Board!!!!! Last week we officially announced not one but TWO Fireclay shop-in-shops inside Room & Board Edina and DC. From the start of my design journey I have admired Room & Board for its commitment to domestic manufacturing, the kindness and consistency of every customer interaction, and now they are even a Certified #bcorp and 100% Employee Owned! Jamie Chappell, Caitlyn Child, and I first met the team there in February 2020, and ever since then we had a dream of one day doing something together. Huge thank you to Bruce Champeau, Dana Backer, Gene Wilson, Brian Rich and the entire Room & Board team who have all been exceptional! We're still hiring for our DC showroom!
