She shared key priorities of Maybank in partnering clients as they chart the pathway towards net zero: 🍃 Engage and collaborate rather than divest in the pursuit of just transition, as Maybank’s Transition Finance Framework embodies our mission of Humanising Financial Services. 🍃 Prioritise hard-to-abate sectors that face the hardest road but has the most impact in terms of achieving net zero outcomes. 🍃 Focus on scalable green technologies such as CCUS (carbon capture, utilisation and storage) and green hydrogen that could fast track the transition of hard-to-abate sectors. Last week, Malaysia assumed the ASEAN chairmanship, championing sustainability and inclusivity—priorities that took center stage at the CETA - Clean Energy Transition Asia Summit, where McKinsey was proud to be the official knowledge partner. During the summit, we had the privilege of presenting Malaysia’s Deputy Prime Minister, Dato Sri Fadillah Yusof, with MGI’s latest energy transition report. A special thanks to my colleague Vaibhav Dua for representing us in this session. I was also honored to participate in a roundtable with the Minister of Economy, YB Rafizi Ramli, fostering dialogue between public and private sectors—a critical driver for clean energy transition, and to participate in an engaging CXO breakfast hosted by McKinsey Global Institute, attended by 12 industry leaders. Kudos to my McKinsey colleagues who actively engaged in multiple CETA touchpoints, including a keynote by Kaushik Das, an e-mobility presentation by Rahul Gupta and Vishal D., panels hosted by Vaibhav, Chris Bradley, Rajat Agarwal, and a roundtable with the Deputy Prime Minister attended by Enrico Furnari and Zarif Jamil. Last week, I had the opportunity to participate in CETA - Clean Energy Transition Asia, gaining valuable insights from the conference sessions and discussions. During the event, NanoMalaysia Berhad (NMB) and UZMA Environergy exchanged an MoU, further strengthening our collaboration in renewable energy. We concluded the week with significant agreement exchange between NMB and Vgmatics at IGEM, focusing on advancing our work in graphene thermal paste. It was a privilege to be part of these impactful milestones in our journey toward sustainable innovation. #CETA2024 #IGEM2024

At the recent CETA - Clean Energy Transition Asia, Senthil Balan, Gentari’s Chief Venture Officer of Green Mobility, shared insights on the transformative role of electric vehicles (EVs) in Malaysia’s journey towards net zero mobility. Speaking at the Global Leadership Panel on Connected, Autonomous, Shared & Electric (CASE), Mass Electrification and Grids, Senthil discussed how Malaysia is poised to become a regional hub for Energy Efficient Vehicles (EEVs) and Next-Generation Vehicles (NxGVs), driven by supportive government policies and investments in EV infrastructure. He highlighted the need for advancements in battery technology and smart grids to drive wider EV adoption, as well as the importance of making EVs more affordable and accessible. Senthil emphasised that the efficient deployment of subsidies and incentives, coupled with industry and government collaboration, will be crucial for Malaysia’s clean mobility transition. At CETA - Clean Energy Transition Asia, Kian Min Low, Gentari's Chief Renewables Officer, discussed how the energy transition is transforming challenges into opportunities for Malaysia and ASEAN. Speaking on the panel titled “From Challenges to Opportunities – Green Business Building Opportunities for Malaysia and ASEAN,” Kian Min highlighted that while achieving net zero emissions requires significant investment, the shift to renewable energy and electric vehicles can lead to lower operational costs and innovative business opportunities. He emphasised the importance of strategic partnerships and collaboration with governments to effectively scale new technologies. Kian Min also called for supportive regulatory frameworks to unlock opportunities in the energy sector.
