Founded in 1983, the World Affairs Council of Charlotte is one of 96 World Affairs Councils and affiliates across the country whose mission focuses on improving international education and encouraging citizens to participate in the national discussion on world affairs. The Council is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, non-partisan organization supported by funding from individual and corporate membership dues, foundations and contributions. By serving as a regional center for education and discussion of world affairs, the WACC seeks to provide leadership for global thinking, believing that a broad perspective is necessary for effective competition in the global economy and for responsible citizenship in an increasingly interdependent world.

WACC delegation led by WACC President and CEO Ljubomir Stambuk alongside WACC Associate Director of Programs and Development Madison NeeSmith have officially arrived in Chile. Our members are participating in a 10-day curated trip that will include tours to the Atacama Desert and Easter Island and cultural and diplomatic briefings with U.S. embassy officials and government officials. Ljubomir (L.J.) Stambuk, President and CEO of WACC, extended a warm welcome to His Excellency Sheikh Meshal bin Hamad Al-Thani, the Ambassador of Qatar to the United States, during his recent visit to Charlotte, North Carolina as part of the WACC’s series of events this fall. This was the Ambassador’s first visit to North Carolina, and L.J. took great pride in presenting the exceptional southern hospitality that the region is renowned for while emphasizing Charlotte’s growth as a global hub for international business, culture, and education.
