Gathering our Aid Station Captains always indicates race day is nearing! Thanks to everyone who dedicates their time leading up to and during race weekend to ensure the Bank of America Chicago Marathon is a success.

This summer, the CEM team has been exploring Chicago's neighborhoods to dive into the city’s rich history and cultures. On July 20, we joined the CRR19 Historic Bike Tour in Bronzeville, learning about the 1919 Race Riots and visiting landmarks like the Chicago Defender Building. Special thanks to Chicago Race Riot and partners for the impactful experience, and shoutout to historian and Chicago Distance Series Ambassador, Dilla!

As we head into peak Bank of America Chicago Marathon planning season, we’re excited for our team to grow. The BTN Big 10K is this Saturday, July 13 at Soldier Field, and we are looking for race weekend volunteers! Volunteers will provide support to thousands of participants as they pick-up their bib and t-shirt, run the 10K or 5K race and kick off the college football season at the Post-Race Tailgate. CEM has a few new staff members! In April, CEM welcomed Nicole (Lockwood) Swartz back to the team! Nicole managed the volunteer program from 2016 through 2021 before leaving CEM to pursue a career in human resources. After three years in HR at the hospitality group Four Corners, she has returned to CEM as the Director of Human Resources. In mid-June, Reese Garland joined the team as our Communications Intern! Reese is a freshman at the University of Southern California studying Business Management and Communications. She is on the USC Track and Field Team and recently qualified for World’s in Discus at the USATF-20’s!

Another Race Management Program Summit in the books! Thank you to all who came to Chicago for the 16th annual summit; from attendees to speakers to our sponsors, it was an engaging and informative week for all!
