President of the Czech Republic, Petr Pavel, visited Chicago on Thursday, September 26th. Mayor Johnson met with President Pavel and joined him for a ceremony at the University of Chicago at the TG Masaryk Monument. President Pavel was also accompanied by representatives from the Czech Embassy, Czech Foreign Ministry, and over 25 high-level Czech business leaders who met with WBC on their visit to discuss best practices in innovation and business. This visit also marked the celebration of Czech Heritage Week in Chicago September 21 - 28. The U.S. Department of State is collaborating with Sister Cities International to recruit, train, and deploy young Americans, our Youth Ambassadors, to serve as guides at the USA Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka in Japan. We had the great honor to kick off our SACC Summit Chicago 2024 with welcoming remarks by Governor JB Pritzker. His inspiring speech on Sweden’s important economic role in Illinois started an exciting day filled with insightful discussions on leadership, gender diversity, cultural differences, collaboration between public/private/academia and corporate creativity. The Balzekas Museum of Lithuanian Culture announces this exhibition which showcases more than a century of art by Lithuanian immigrant artists with ties to Chicago. After three years of hard work, the exhibition beLONGING: Lithuanian Artists in Chicago, 1900 to Now reveals the role and impact of these artists within Chicago’s rich cultural landscape and beyond. The exhibition features nearly 30 artists representing three waves of immigration to Chicago and more than 100 works of art in various media, including painting, drawing, sculpture, textiles, print media, and photography, as well as rare books, video interviews, interpretative materials, and ephemera. The Lucerne Committee of CSCI and members of the Swiss American community joined together for Swiss Heritage Night at the Chicago Fire game on Saturday, Sept 14th. The evening was celebrated with a chance to meet Swiss player Maren Haile-Selassie and a Chicago Fire win! 🇨🇭 ⚽
