This Wednesday we welcome pediatric nurse practitioner Amber Banta! Amber specializes in gastroenterology and nutrition with a special interest in GI care for children with complex medical needs. She is new to the Richmond area after spending the bulk of her career as a nurse practitioner in inpatient pediatrics in Raleigh and Wilmington, NC. While missing the beach, Amber moved with her family, including her two boys, to be closer to extended family. She is now looking forward to developing relationships with patients and families here in the RVA region.

We are proud to be the only children’s hospital in the state using the latest skin regeneration technology to treat severe burn injuries at our VCU Health Evans-Haynes Burn Center. These injuries can cause massive trauma and pain for patients, and can also take months, if not years, to heal. This innovative skin regeneration technology is allowing for faster healing times using a patient’s own skin while reducing the chance for infection. Read more: https://bit.ly/3WsUrwl

Get to know Dr. Brian Kogon, our new chief of congenital heart surgery at CHoR and congenital heart surgeon at UVA Health Children’s. With more than 20 years of experience in all areas of congenital heart disease across the age spectrum, Dr. Kogon says his favorite part of the job is walking into the waiting room to tell a family that their baby did great during surgery. He finds it fulfilling to watch these children thrive into adulthood and lead normal, active lives. Learn more about Dr. Kogon here: https://lnkd.in/efGA67YR
