I started with CHKD in May 2021 but have been with urology since December 2023. After moving to Virginia from the Pacific Northwest, where I worked with children, the choice to join CHKD was a simple one—work with the people you love to care for.

I have experience in multiple areas of healthcare, which gives me a unique perspective when providing care. I’m patient-focused and understand the importance of delivering quality care. I am genuinely enthusiastic and excited about the opportunity to work with children, and I feel that shows in my attitude and demeanor at work.

I take great pride in being a go-to part of a patient care team, someone who brings comfort to a concerned family by simply being there. Recently, I had a family call into the clinic, and as soon as I answered the phone, the grandmother on the other end of the line said, “Oh, Jessica, I’m so glad it’s you.” It’s rewarding to know you’ve created a trusting relationship with the patient and their family.

CHKD's mission is a reminder to focus on the entire patient experience. By focusing on all three components—health, healing, and hope—the patient is recognized as more than just a sick child. They are someone we foster health for through programs that encourage healthy behaviors and lifestyles and the provision of general, specialty, surgical, and research-driven care. They are someone we work to heal with quality, compassionate care. And they are someone we provide hope for a healthy future.

I am more of an outdoorsy person in the spring and summer months, so I’m a bit behind on current books, movies, and TV. In general, I enjoy crime drama, and I’ve been working my way through the Women’s Murder Club series by James Patterson for many years. I am looking forward to taking time to see movies like Fly Me to the Moon, It Ends With Us, and Twisters as the outdoor activities start to wind down, though!
