We are excited to announce that Patricia Lasutschinkow is the recipient of our 2024-25 Behavioral Health Scholarship. Lasutschinkow is a student at Eastern Michigan University’s Clinical Psychology Doctoral Program and expected to graduate in 2025. She aspires to work in an academic medical center to provide clinical interventions to pediatric medical populations, in addition to conducting assessments and providing recommendations to families regarding next steps for their child. In 2019, our generous Board of Trustees established the Behavioral Health Scholarship which aims to increase the number of professionals in Michigan specializing in youth mental health. More about the scholarship and this year’s recipient, here. https://lnkd.in/gS-Zf2vh

Your individual retirement account (IRA) is an excellent tool for saving for your retirement years. Even better, it’s an extremely easy way to support children, today: 1) If you are 70 1/2 or older, you can use the IRA charitable rollover to make a tax-free gift to The Children’s Foundation. In fact, beginning in 2023, you have the option to make a one-time charitable distribution up to $50,000 from your IRA directly into a charitable gift annuity or charitable remainder trust. 2) If you are 59 1/2 or older, you may withdraw from your IRA without penalty. You’ll pay income tax on the amount you take, but if you itemize your tax deductions, you are eligible to take an income tax charitable deduction for the full value of the gift. 3) If now isn’t a good time to part with assets, you can name The Children’s Foundation as a beneficiary of your IRA, other retirement plan assets, life insurance policy, or donor advised fund.
