From primary to specialty care, and everything in between: We are here to provide excellent care for your child. As a freestanding, independent nonprofit hospital, we value innovation, collaboration, accountability, respect and excellence. We are the only full-service, pediatric health care center in Nebraska, providing expertise in primary care and more than 50 pediatric specialty services to children and families across a five-state region and beyond. Children’s is home to Nebraska’s only Level IV regional Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and the state’s only Level II Pediatric Trauma Center, and is recognized as a 2023-24 Best Children’s Hospital by U.S. News & World Report in the pediatric specialty of Pulmonology. As an organization, we lead with a People First philosophy, defined by our commitment to fostering an environment of safety, trust and belonging. Children’s celebrates a diverse, inclusive environment where every team member can embrace their authentic selves and thrive personally and professionally. Wellbeing is a strategic priority, with programs and initiatives in place to support team members’ mental, social, emotional, physical and financial wellbeing. Children’s is named one of the top in-state employers in Nebraska by Forbes in 2023, and is the only healthcare system in Nebraska to be named a 2023-23 gold recipient of Mental Health America’s Bell Seal Award for Workplace Mental Health. Two-year-old Howie came to Children's Nebraska in 2023 for a routine procedure that revealed a serious congenital heart issue – pulmonary and systemic arteriopathy, a condition marked by arteries too small to support blood flow to the body and lungs. One of a few centers with the expertise in pulmonary artery rehabilitation necessary to treat Howie's condition, our multidisciplinary Criss Heart Center team collaborated to work through a series of obstacles, saving Howie's life. 169 days. That’s how long baby Scotti and her family were at Children’s Nebraska, more than 350 miles from home. Originally from Redfield, South Dakota, Scotti was brought to Children’s by the Critical Care Transport team following unexpected complications during birth. Our pediatric care teams were ready to provide immediate intervention and specialized care. Scotti was placed on ECMO, the highest form of life support, in our Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, where she remained for two weeks. Small but mighty, Scotti fought for healing and was soon transferred to our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Despite being far from home, Scotti was never without her family nearby while hospitalized at Children’s—and that’s because of the Carolynn Scott Rainbow House. “I don’t know what we would have done without the Rainbow House,” her mom, Jen, says. “It’s been so wonderful for our family. We were extremely grateful to have a place to stay nearby and loved the ability to still have home-cooked meals.” For more than 40 years, the Rainbow House has provided free lodging and respite to patient families traveling 90+ miles to receive care, allowing their sole focus to be helping their child heal. Designed to be a home away from home, the Rainbow House keeps families together when it matters most. You can be a part of supporting these families through various donations, like pantry items, toiletries, toys, meals and more. Big hearts = big impact. ❤ To learn more about the Rainbow House and how you can support children and families, visit https://lnkd.in/gKiH6HAw.
