About us

Community HousingWorks (CHW) is a nationally recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that develops, rehabilitates, preserves and operates affordable apartment communities in Texas and throughout California. Our unique approach extends beyond an affordable place to call home. In addition to providing working families and seniors with stable homes in healthy communities, we layer in powerful programs, services and connections to resources. These tools help people attain financial stability, improve their health and overall well-being, and set school-age children up for success in the classroom and beyond. CHW owns over 4,051 apartments throughout 45 communities, serving more than 10,000 residents in California and Texas. CHW is an exemplary-ranked member of the national NeighborWorks Network®, an award-winning affiliate of UnidosUS and a member of the prestigious Housing Partnership Network.

CHW was proud to partner with Century Housing on our recent acquisition of Stadium Village with funding from the Inglewood Home Assist Fund. The Inglewood Home Assist Fund, a $75 million revolving loan program from the City of Inglewood, is designed to maintain long-term affordability and stability for community members amid the area’s rapid growth. CHW President & CEO Sean Spear said about the deal, "To be able to preserve this housing along one of the major gateways to the City is incredibly important. These large apartments with attached garages and outdoor space are ideal for families and intergenerational living. It is a type of new construction that is challenging to finance in today’s funding environment, so to be able to retain and improve this housing where it already exists is a huge win for the residents and the City.” We're excited to join the Inglewood community and to preserve these homes as affordable housing. #AffordableHousing #WeBuildFutures #Inglewood

CHW was well represented at last night's San Diego Business Journal and San Diego County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce event celebrating San Diego's Latino Leaders of Influence for 2024. CHW Board Member Antonio Barbosa attended on behalf of event sponsor Wells Fargo. CHW's new Vice President of Philanthropy and Community Engagement Alexis Rodriguez (pictured in the center) was named a nominee for the list, and she was accompanied by CHW Marketing and Communications Manager Lindsay N. Ball. Many thanks to the event organizers for creating such an uplifting event celebrating Latino excellence in our community. Congratulations to all the nominees and the 50 finalists!
