Ahead of the #InternationalDayofForests, here is a story about the vital link between forests, food security, and livelihoods. In #Indonesia, our Forest Investment Program (FIP) and the Dedicated Grant Mechanism (DGM) support Indigenous communities like those in Cibarani. There, people are now able to keep the full earnings from their sap sugar sales, empowering local women and strengthening their economy. Learn how forest-adjacent communities came to enhance their livelihoods, boost incomes, and create powerful incentives to protect their forests. 👉 https://lnkd.in/drAQ-MmE

CIF is a pioneering multilateral climate fund delivering low-cost finance to over 80 developing countries.
About us
CIF is one of the world’s largest multilateral funds helping low- and middle-income countries adapt to and mitigate climate change. Since 2008, it has been channeling funds from government donors and the private sector to support more than 360 projects in over 80 countries. Its launch emerged from recognition by world leaders that climate change and development are inextricably intertwined, and that climate-smart investment is needed at scale to deliver on the opportunities for green growth identified in the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Working in partnership with governments, the private sector, civil society, local communities, and six major multilateral development banks (MDBs), CIF provides highly competitive financing that reduces risk for investors, lowering barriers to piloting new technologies, scaling up proven solutions, opening up sustainable markets, and mobilizing private sector capital for climate action. Rallying stakeholders behind increasingly ambitious climate goals and complementary action, CIF draws in diverse partners who might otherwise be deterred from investing alone.

Congratulations to the #DominicanRepublic! 👏 The country has secured $85M for an innovative investment plan, endorsed by our governing board, to transform its energy system and boost energy security. This investment aims to diversify energy sources, reduce reliance on costly imports, and enhance energy independence. Key Highlights: 1️⃣ Energy Security: Expanding its energy mix and reducing dependence on imported fuel. 2️⃣ Grid Upgrades: Modernizing transmission to support intermittent sources and improve reliability. 3️⃣ Environmental Impact: Reducing nearly 10 million tons of CO2 emissions. More than $1.1 billion is expected in co-financing which will accelerate the country's shift to diverse energy sources. Wonderful to – twice! – address the global Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL) event last week in #Barbados. The topic? How energy efficiency and low-carbon technologies can bring about rapid social and economic progress. It was a privilege to meet with Deputy Prime Minister of Tanzania, Doto Biteko, to explore how CIF can support Tanzania’s clean cooking ambition as part of their energy compact. It was also wonderful to reconnect with Team Nigeria, led by Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, to discuss shared priorities for sustainable development and economic growth. My congratulations to Damilola Ogunbiyi for convening such an important gathering, to unite leaders behind #Mission300 and other critical initiatives to expand energy access. It was an honor to speak alongside the Hon. John Mbadi of THE NATIONAL TREASURY KENYA, Jon Creyts of RMI, Valerie Levkov from the IFC - International Finance Corporation, Tolulope Gbenro of the Youth Sustainable Development Network (YSDN), Jennifer Layke of World Resources Institute, Jo Cops of IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission), Christine Egan of CLASP, Marit Y. Kitaw of the African Minerals Development Centre, and Nishant Narayan of SEforALL, under Anca Gurzu’s skilled facilitation. And great to connect with Gasem Fallatah of the Forward 7 initiative.

🌳 Do you see the forests for the trees? Details are important, especially for the communities who make their livelihoods in agroforestry or live in areas of forests. We recently met communities from the Democratic Republic of #Congo as part of taking stock of our work under our Forest Investment Program. As we look ahead to #InternationalDayofForests later this week, we are reminded of the importance of Indigenous communities being empowered to manage and protect their own forests and the livelihoods it gives them. ➡️ https://lnkd.in/er67T-Ct
