Many of our departments just returned from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) National Conference & Exhibition, and we really enjoyed connecting with attendees to exchange ideas and share the latest insights in pediatric care. Dr. Emily Miller, our Director of Perinatal Health Equity, Advocacy, and Policy, shared some key takeaways from the experience: civic engagement is associated with improved child health; partnering with families is critical to improving care; and Artificial intelligence technology will have a significant impact on patient management. Also during the conference, we're were thrilled to celebrate Wendy Pomerantz, MD, MS, who received the 2024 Fellow Achievement Award from the Council on Injury, Violence, and Poison Prevention. This prestigious award recognizes an AAP Fellow who has made an exceptional contribution to the field of injury, violence, and poison prevention. Join us in congratulating her on this well-deserved honor! #WeAreCincyKids

As we continue to celebrate National Disability Employment Awareness Month, we also celebrate and honor the contributions of our workers with disabilities, and want to highlight how inclusive employment can benefit everyone. We understand that having a disability is a part of someone’s lived experience but not their sole-defining characteristic. As National Disability Employment Awareness Month gets underway, and we continue to make significant strides in workplace inclusivity and emergency preparedness, we want to honor our Disabled & Abled Employee Resource Group for their ongoing dedicated efforts. One of the group's key initiatives is enhancing emergency response protocols for employees with disabilities to help all staff members feel safe, valued and seen. They are doing this by creating individualized response plans, developing an Emergency Preparedness app, and expanding a current program that is responsible for assisting individuals with disabilities during emergencies. #WeAreCincyKids #NDEAM
