CIPA Heritage Documentation Emerging Professionals

Architecture and Planning

We are Emerging Professionals advocating for EPs in the field of heritage documentation.

About us

We are emerging professionals (EPs) from CIPA Heritage Documentation, an ICOMOS Scientific Committee and ISPRS Permanent Committee. We advocate for EPs by sharing and organizing sessions and assisting at CIPA events, such as at the biennial symposia and summer schools. We promote opportunities and ongoing initiatives in academia, industry, etc., and provide a platform for EPs to network. An EP is someone who has approximately less than 15 years of experience in their respective field, is interested in gaining expertise and networking, and supports and promotes ICOMOS/CIPA ethical tenets. Kick-off event for the project “Heritage Building Information Modeling (HBIM) as a documentation, planning and monitoring method for the elimination of harmful environmental influences using the example of the UNESCO World Heritage Site Worms Synagogue” and conference on “Heritage BIM in monument preservation - Innovative strategies for conservation and monitoring”.   Organized by AI MAINZ - Institute for Architecture at Hochschule Mainz - University of Applied Sciences in collaboration with the State Monument Preservation and the World Heritage Secretariat of the Directorate-General for Cultural Heritage Rhineland-Palatinate (GDKE), funded by the German Federal Environmental Foundation (DBU Deutsche Bundesstiftung Umwelt). In cooperation with ICOMOS Germany and CIPA Heritage Documentation. Central questions of the DBU-funded project and the conference:    • How can the BIM (Building Information Modeling) planning method contribute to the recording, maintenance planning and monitoring of cultural monuments?    • How can monument conservation and world heritage-specific requirements be recorded in the digital model and made usable in the long term?   • How can data from different disciplines be integrated in order to develop a holistic tool for recording, planning and conservation?  The event in Mainz will provide insights into the exciting topics from current research projects and initiatives around Heritage BIM (HBIM) from Germany and abroad in order to ensure a basis for the development of efficient information management for the sustainable conservation of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. More information to follow soon.
