Seattle is taking powerful steps to support youth and reduce violence! Through the Community Violence Intervention and Prevention Initiative (CVIPI), organizations like the Center for Children & Youth Justice (CCYJ) are making a real impact by funding grassroots groups like the Black Rose Collective, Freedom Project, Urban Family, and Pro Se Potential. These community-driven efforts focus on mentorship, healing, and empowering those impacted by gun violence and incarceration. What an incredible #CU11Seattle! 🎉💪🏾 Over 1000 leaders, advocates, practitioners, and more from across the country gathered in Seattle to attend Cities United’s largest convening yet! Our work over the past few years built a foundation for reimagining what public safety could look like in our communities. Now is the time to take greater strides and make our dreams and imagination a reality. Now is the time to redefine public safety. This event wouldn’t have been possible without the tireless efforts of so many. A huge thank you to our amazing Cities United convening planning team for organizing and executing this powerful event. 🙏🏾 We are also deeply grateful to Mayor Bruce Harrell, the City of Seattle employees, King County, WA employees, and the phenomenal team at Casey Family Programs (Cindy, Raquel, Caryn, Toya, Kayra, Antoinette) for their dedication and continued support of our mission. We were excited to unveil our new "Learn Act Lead" framework, which lays out a roadmap for transforming communities and saving lives. Stay tuned to learn more resources that can help cities lead the nation in community violence prevention and intervention. We also took a moment to honor our loved ones lost to violence through a moving memorial garden, and ended the week with an unforgettable celebration of hope and resilience at the Gala. 🎉✨ We want to acknowledge the amazing work of our Cities United network who labor year-round to create safe, healthy, and hopeful communities. Your dedication is making a difference! 🙌🏾 Thank you for helping us sell out this event and making it the biggest convening yet!
