Tomorrow, Sunday, Sept. 29, we’ll make Georgia history when the doors to Arthur M. Blank Hospital officially open. Here are four things you need to know.👇 1) At 7 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 29, Arthur M. Blank Hospital will open, and the Egleston Hospital Emergency Department will close. Current clinical services at Egleston will move to Arthur M. Blank Hospital. 2) We’ll use 65 ambulances to move more than 300 patients to the new hospital—all in about 12 hours. 3) Please yield to ambulances near our hospitals on Move Day. They are transporting precious cargo. 4) As of 7 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 29, families should visit one of our three hospitals for emergency services: Arthur M. Blank Hospital, Hughes Spalding Hospital or Scottish Rite Hospital.

I am incredibly proud to be recognized as the 2024 Eric Talley Memorial Award recipient for my role as UAS Program Manager at the Brookhaven Police Department. This award is named in memory of Officer Eric Talley of the Boulder, CO PD, a true hero, and it is a humbling honor to carry forward his legacy of excellence in public safety operations. This recognition reflects the hard work and dedication of not just myself but of Matt Murray, Samuel Jones and several others on our team who continue to leverage drone technology to enhance public safety in City of Brookhaven, Georgia. We wrap the 2024 cohort recognition of our new ChangeMakers with Patrice Ruffin Dowdell, AICP, Assistant City Manager of the City of Brookhaven, Georgia. In 2020, she was recognized by Engineering Georgia magazine as one of the Top 100 Influential Women in Georgia Engineering as a professional dedicated to sustained improvements to the state in the areas of planning, design, construction, governance, education, and public service.

Only 50 more days until we open the doors to Arthur M. Blank Hospital! Ahead of opening on Sunday, September 29, here are five fun facts: 1. Robos: The new hospital will be equipped with 90 autonomous mobile robots and robos, making it one of the largest hospital fleets in the country. They will help our staff with transporting and delivering materials such as supplies, linens, trash and meal trays throughout all 19 floors. 2. Trauma Center: Our new hospital will be the only Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center in Georgia when it opens on Sunday, September 29. 3. Family Amenities: Extra consideration was put into family amenities throughout the new hospital, and the designs are based on valuable input from our very own patient families. Some of the amenities include kitchenettes, child life activity rooms, laundry facilities on every floor, dedicated sleeping rooms, and a business center to help normalize a family’s routine as much as possible during their hospital stay. 4. Parking: It will have more than 4,700 parking spaces. The new parking decks will provide families with quick access to the hospital and enhanced navigation to bring convenience and peace of mind. 5. Daylight in Patient Rooms: Every patient room has been designed to maximize access to daylight with over 100 square feet windows overlooking various gardens, the Atlanta city skyline, Stone Mountain, or Atlanta’s beautiful tree canopy. It is amazing to see Georgia leading the electric vehicle transformation...from EV manufacturing (Kia in West Point), state-wide EV charger infrastructure (GDOT and GA Power); workforce development (GA technical colleges - Hybrid/Electric Vehicle Repair Technician Certification), and EV development for the skies (Acher Aviation). Kudos to the Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) for convening the annual ConnectATL Summit on all things EV and Folashade Alao, PhD for moderating the Flipping the Switch: Navigating the Transition to an Electric Future panel. Shout out to Taos Wynn at the Atlanta Fire Rescue Foundation for the Fleet Forward initiative and its all-electric fire truck; to Cobb County’s Fleet Director, Al Curtis, who is leading sustainability with five different fuel types in the fleet; and James Nguyen, PE at the Curiosity Lab in Peachtree Corners who is developing a mobile application that supports all the EV charging platforms…one-stop charging experience. #ConnectATL #OneGreatRegion
