When Beth came upon a visitor pulling on the locked doors of the Council Chambers because he thought he had a meeting inside, she sprang into action to ensure he didn't miss his meeting. Beth made a quick call to get the visitor's meeting information, then personally escorted him upstairs in City Hall to be certain he arrived at his destination. We are so fortunate to have Beth as part of Team Chandler! Not only is she proactive and helpful, but her presence also makes everyone around her smile. Thank you for your commitment to our Chandler community, Beth. Keep up the great work. #ChandlerAZ #TeamChandler

Many thanks to our colleagues in the City of Chandler, Arizona, including Mayor Kevin Hartke, Micah Miranda, Ryan Peters, and John Knudson for the amazing program of meetings they planned for our German-American Semiconductor Cities Network! During our second day, we had the opportunity to learn about how the city collaborates with other communities in the region and the state, planning issues related to supporting the city's growth, specifically related to the semiconductor industry, and very importantly, about the educational ecosystem that supports workforce development and R&D for the industry, including: Chandler Unified School District CTE Semiconductor Program- https://lnkd.in/e5ANYEgG Maricopa County Community College Semiconductor Quick Start Program - https://lnkd.in/g5d_YH8h University of Arizona Center for Semiconductor Manufacturing - https://csm.arizona.edu/ ASU MacroTechnology Works - https://lnkd.in/gx9ehbqr The participants from Chandler, City of Columbus, New Albany, Ohio, Landeshauptstadt Dresden, and Landeshauptstadt Magdeburg were highly impressed by the deep commitment and collaboration amongst the diverse range of stakeholders in the community that have led to Chandler's and the region's success in the semiconductor ecosystem. It was also pretty cool take a ride with Waymo's driverless taxi, which began as a pilot project in Chandler in 2015-2016! The German-American Semiconductor Cities Network is implemented by the American Council on Germany and funded by the Transatlantic Program of the Federal Republic of Germany with funds from the European Recovery Program (ERP) of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK). Did you know that October is National Community Planning Month? Mayor Kevin Hartke issued a proclamation at yesterday's City Council meeting highlighting the importance of community planning and its benefits. Our Planning Team also was recognized for their commitment to thoughtful planning and their role in creating a thriving city. During the presentation, Planning Administrator Kevin Mayo thanked the Council for their support and shared that a career in Planning is never boring. He had a trivia question — asking which of the following questions have planners been asked by customers? A. Can I run a colon cleansing business from my home? B. Can my child have a therapy chicken? C. What are the rules to sell shrimp from the back of my pickup truck? D. Is my property zoned for a body donation business? If you guessed "all of the above" — ding, ding, ding — you're right! This barely scratches the surface of what this Planning Team gets to help customers with on a daily basis. Congratulations to this hardworking team!
